  5. 'Opposite ends of the spectrum'published at 14:32 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool have probably had 28 minutes of possession. Aston Villa are not working hard enough off the ball. And the opposite can be said of Liverpool. Their pressure has been excellent.

Aston Villa haven't had the best time of it but with the players that they have on the pitch, they can still spring to life. Maybe with Bailey and Diaby on the pitch, they are still in this game.

    Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It will go down as an own-goal but it deserved a Liverpool name on the end of it. It was a brilliant move.

Trent Alexander-Arnold picks the ball up and when he does, the Liverpool front three just come alive.

What Aston Villa are dealing with is that teams know what they are going to do so you're going to time runs much better. And as we have seen from Newcastle and today so far, the good teams are going to punish them.
