Alvin: Nunez's overall finishing is still not clinical enough... at least it is now not comical.

Jason: Hope Salah keeps scoring, then we can sell him at the end of the season and invest back in the team.

  9. 'Liverpool will want the clean sheet now'published at 15:28 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa

They will definitely want it. Everyone sets their stall by keeping a clean sheet and they will want that.

It is no surprise that Salah is the man left on the field but all of the other strikers who went off contributed to this. Darwin Nunez was as good as I've seen him.

Mark: Liverpool are not messing about this season. A cracking start with what looks like a victory against a very good Aston Villa side.

Rob: Liverpool back to their blistering best today! Quality pressing, sharp quick passes and some wonderful football. Maybe we don't need VVD?

Ryan: Last season was a random, frustrating, dud season for Liverpool. They look fired up already! Would love to see them running all over the Etihad.

  12. 'Villa are still creating things'published at 15:26 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Aston Villa are creating chances. As soon as they step their tempo up in any way they look like a good team, they have just not been anywhere near quick enough in this game.

  13. goal

    Hwang Hee-chan (Wolves)

Hwang Hee-chan's only been on the pitch for six minutes as a substitute but he's drawn Wolves level.

A free-kick from the left from Pedro Neto, Hwang goes up for the header, but the ball more bounces off his shoulder than forehead.

Nevertheless, it is enough for the ball to loop up and over Sam Johnstone and into the net.

A header for Aston Villa's John McGinn, but he can't get too much power on it and it's straight at Alisson.

Ben: And that's exactly why selling Salah would be a mistake. Always has one moment of magic up his sleeve.

Dennis: One thing with Nunez he is always there! What a exciting talent can’t wait to see the final product when Klopp refines him.

    Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah gets on the scoresheet to make it 3-0 for Liverpool. Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner from the right, Darwin Nunez flicks it on and Salah is there at the back post to convert.

Liverpool had to fend off a £150m bid from Saudi Arabia on Friday, and the Egyptian again highlights his worth to the Reds, adding to the earlier goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and the Matty Cash own goal.

Three goals for Liverpool and very probably three points too.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Wolves

Palace defender Joel Ward is booked. He is making his 273rd Premier League start for the Eagles, the joint-most of any player for the club along with Wilfried Zaha, who clearly won't be making any more appearances in the red and blue anytime soon considering he is now playing in Turkey for Galatasaray.

  20. 'Unlucky again for Nunez'published at 15:12 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Everything about that was brilliant. Trent Alexander-Arnold from the edge of his own box plays that pass to Salah and Nunez I don't think he can do anything more. He is stretching everything he can to get on the end of it.

I think I am saying it again, unlucky for Darwin Nunez.
