Calvert-Lewin is never reaching the ball but feels he can. His momentum takes him into the goalkeeper; purely accidental.

    Horrible collision.

They'll miss Tyrone Mings - Pau Torres is a good defender, but he has to get up to the speed of the Premier League.

I think he [Tyrone Mings] is a good defender, he has formed a good partnership with Ezri Konsa.

Again Everton hit it long with Abdoulaye Doucouré trying to find the run of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. However, Emi Martinez charges out of his area to clear and start an Aston Villa counter, which ends with Moussa Diaby firing well over.

The first game of the season Neal Maupay missed a lot of chances and so did Abdoulaye Doucoure.

If you can keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit Everton will be fine this season.

A bit of risky playing out from the back by Aston Villa but they get away with it.

Everton, meanwhile, have been quite direct when they've got the ball, quickly hitting it long.

It is two corners in quick succession for Aston Villa but nothing comes of them and Everton break, with Alex Iwobi's ball into the box cleared.

Aston Villa v Everton (14:00 BST)

I know not everyone is a fan of xG stats but it is interesting to see just how wasteful Everton were against Fulham last week.

The Toffees had an xG of 2.73 in their 1-0 defeat, their second-highest expected goals total in a Premier League game under Sean Dyche.

It was the highest expected goals tally by a team who failed to score since Newcastle against Crystal Palace in September 2022 (2.83).

Will they be more clinical today?

Aston Villa faced 13 shots on target in their loss to Newcastle in their opening league match of this season, their most in a Premier League game since December 2012 vs Chelsea (15).

In his 563 matches managing in Europe’s top-five leagues, Unai Emery has only seen one of his teams face more in a game once, with Barcelona having 15 shots on target against his Valencia side in February 2012.
