I think Tottenham fans will be looking forward to it more than they have done in the last few years. They say the phrase 'we've got our club back' and the cub is a club that loves to attack and play open football.

You will not get any better than Ange Postecoglou to play that style of football. He's going to play and open style. It is going to be exciting and edge-of-the-seat stuff. They have got the perfect man for their club.

Ant: Honestly you press guys are making way too much out of the Raya- Ramsdale issue- players don't need to play every week. If there are 2 in the same position who are equally matched, so much the better. Competition is a great thing.

Dan: Why is everyone talking about how dangerous it is for Artera to switch between Raya and Ramsdale, but nobody saying the same about De Zerbi switching between Steele and Verbruggen? It's exactly the same isn't it, and De Zerbi's hailed as a genius?

Aston Villa are yet to hit the heights we saw when they were in their pomp under Unai Emery last season, but they are still a good side.

They came back well to beat Crystal Palace last week and, unlike Chelsea, finding the net is not a problem for them.

I wrongly backed Chelsea to turn things around too many times last season, and I am not going to make that mistake again.

It actually would not surprise me if Villa nicked this, to add to Mauricio Pochettino's problems at Stamford Bridge, but I am going to go for a draw - which probably means Chelsea will win!

    Prediction: 1-1

Chelsea v Aston Villa (14:00 BST)

    Michael Brown
    Former Manchester City midfielder

Have we ever seen such a turnaround of playing staff and money spent as we have at Chelsea? It's incredible.

Last season, we saw someone who was a wonderful coach at Brighton not being able to find his way through. Now we have one of the best managers in the world not being able to get through it quickly.

They should have had better results than they have - that's a given - but it's a bit like at Nottingham Forest at the start of last season where they had too many players and no way of sieving through them.

One thing we do need to say though is that Chelsea have a load of injuries. They have got a full football team out! It's insane. How do you coach that?

They have got a great manager, have invested in some wonderfully talented young players and now they have to find a way to get results and find a formula that works.

We might see a different Chelsea over a period of time but I don't know if football allows that period of time because the pressure increases so quickly.

After winning six of their first eight away Premier League games under Unai Emery (D1 L1), Aston Villa have just one victory in their past seven on the road (D2 L4).

However, the Villans are so far unbeaten in London under Emery in the competition (W2 D2).

"They’re a very good team with a very good coach," Emery said of Chelsea.

"Previously, they were contenders to be in the top seven teams in the Premier League. It’s a tough match."

    Brighton v Bournemouth (14:00 BST)

A new manager, without a league win after five games - must be a full-scale crisis on the cards?

Well, not at Bournemouth where if anything, there is a growing sense of optimism among the fanbase after a wholehearted display in Sunday’s draw against Chelsea.

Despite drawing a blank in front of goal, the Cherries can be proud of their performance in matching a club with recent aspirations to co-found a European Super League, and a team assembled for more than a billion pounds.

Lewis Cook, signed for £6m in 2016, dominating the £100m Enzo Fernandez in midfield was a prime example.

Yes, Chelsea can point to an injury list – but so can Bournemouth, including two major signings yet to set foot on the pitch in Tyler Adams and Alex Scott. And it was Bournemouth who finished the game stronger, with supporters relishing the high-energy displays demanded by boss Andoni Iraola in comparison to the more defensive stance taken last season under Gary O’Neil.

“The national perspective on Bournemouth at the minute is completely out of kilter,” BBC Radio Solent commentator Kris Temple said on the latest edition of the Cherries: Unpicked podcast.

“Fans, in the main, are very happy with the progress. There is always concern about not winning, but five games into a 38-game season, Bournemouth are just below Chelsea and Manchester United in the table. And the fixtures have been horrible – but they’ve go to Everton, Wolves and Burnley coming up next month.”

Statisticians Opta, , externalpostulated that Bournemouth had the second most difficult run of opening fixtures after Newcastle.

Looking at the Cherries’ five equivalent fixtures last season (West Ham, Tottenham and Chelsea at home, Liverpool and Brentford away), they took zero points from those games in 2022-23 with a combined minus-18 goal difference – so coming away with three points and only a minus-four GD represents a tangible improvement.

Up next in the league? Brighton and Arsenal, and a point or two would be welcome – but the panic button will not be pressed if a win does not come until those easier (on paper) games in October.

Luis Sinisterra has been speaking to BBC Radio Solent for the first time since joining Bournemouth on loan from Leeds in the summer transfer window.

The winger says he has been settling in well: "The team and club have been really good and have given me a really warm welcome. I'm happy about that.

"I spoke with [former Bournemouth midfielder] Jefferson Lerma and Marcos Senesi before I came, so it was really easy to know about the team, about the club, and of course they said really good things about the club. So that's why I took the decision to come to Bournemouth.

"[Jefferson] said it's a nice club to play at and to develop. Of course he told me about the city and he was really settling in at Bournemouth. So that's one of the reasons why I'm here.

"I spent almost three years with Marcos at Feyenoord, and with Tyler [Adams] one year with him last year. So of course I texted them and they gave me all of the advice and told me everything about this club."

Sinisterra says he was only approached by Bournemouth a "couple of days" before the transfer window closed, adding: "We spoke for a couple of days, then I spoke with the manager. It was a really good project so I was really happy to take the decision."

    Brighton v Bournemouth (14:00 BST)

Sam Davis, Back of the Net, external

Many will look at Bournemouth’s start to the season as 'same old' but, in reality, the signs are positive.

No wins in the opening five games doesn't really paint the whole picture of how our campaign has started. Three points from five games that we got zero points from last season evidently shows an improvement, but it's the shift in performance and style that's the most pleasing aspect for fans.

A far more progressive and offensive style is being implemented well by new gaffer Andoni Iraola, albeit it will take some time to polish as it's completely opposite to how we played last season.

You can add to that the big players missing through injury and a demanding set of fixtures.

So Bournemouth are on the right path and fans have something to be excited about.

Players like Marcus Tavernier, Lloyd Kelly and Dango Ouattara have only just returned. New signing Luis Sinisterra has only just come through the door. And we are still without Tyler Adams and Alex Scott. This simply cannot be forgotten because injuries really do matter.

Impressive points picked up against West Ham United, Brentford and Chelsea shouldn’t be sniffed at. The reality is that Bournemouth have only been beaten by Liverpool and Tottenham, two sides who have yet to lose a Premier League match.

A brand new system and philosophy, with new ideas, will take time to implement but, with missing players returning and the group understanding Andoni’s wishes, it's a matter of time before promising displays turn into results.

  13. Arteta 'understands' Aaron Ramsdale's frustrationspublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Arsenal v Tottenham (14:00 BST)

Mikel Arteta says he "understands" Aaron Ramsdale's frustrations after he was replaced by David Raya for Arsenal's last two matches.

Summer signing Raya made his debut in last weekend's win at Everton and kept his place for the midweek Champions League victory over PSV Eindhoven.

Arteta has not yet decided who will start Sunday's game against Tottenham.

"I suffer and care about every player who's not playing, but this is the competition," said the Gunners boss.

"This is my job as well to make decisions in the best possible way for the team."

England goalkeeper Ramsdale had started 52 successive Premier League games for Arsenal before missing out to Raya, a summer loan signing from Brentford, at Goodison Park last Sunday.

Arteta played down the significance of the decision after the game, saying he was happy to rotate goalkeepers as he would any outfield position.

If it is done professionally and with the right information given to the keepers, if it is done with good reasons and you can understand what those reasons are, you can grumpily put up with it.

But the regularly changing, I think that is too disruptive and will affect everyone. Here's your problem, if you do it and it doesn't go right, not only does it not look very good, it looks dreadful.

Surely David Raya's selection as Arsenal keeper for this north London derby with Tottenam means he is now manager Mikel Arteta's first choice from now on.

You pick your preferred choice for these games and the last seven days have indicated strongly that Raya is the top man.
