    Coventry lead at the interval!

Hull made much the better start in an entertaining game, but Coventry's pressure and energy has paid off, with Yasin Ayari scheming in central midfield and Joel Latibeaudiere heading a fine opener from Josh Eccles' delivery.

Aaron Connolly might want to change into his finishing boots at the break, while Jaden Philogene has been an impressive menace for Hull.

Leicester's Kieran Deswbury-Hall has taken the legs off the Saints player.

He was nowhere near the ball.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 38 mins

    Southampton 1-2 Leicester

Leicester's Kieran Dewsbury-Hall goes into the referees pocket book for taking out a Southampton player with an attempted sliding tackle down the touchline.

    Southampton 1-2 Leicester

Lab coat on, clipboard out, beakers are bubbling and my goggle are steaming up.

    It's time for some stats.

Southampton won both league meetings against Leicester last season in the Premier League.

Saints haven’t won three in a row in the league against the Foxes since March 2008.

(I don't know why I'm envisioning myself dressed as a scientist in a lab but I felt it was appropriate.)

    Hull 0-1 Coventry

Two minutes into three of added time in the first half at Hull.

Coventry should be headed into the break with a one-goal lead.

    Hull 0-1 Coventry

The momentum swings again, Coventry recovering from that scare and having a sight of goal through Liam Delap.

A second before half-time, suffice to say, would be very welcome for those away fans.

  7. 'Connolly's swung at it'published at 20:36 British Summer Time 15 September 2023

    Hull 0-1 Coventry

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

Connolly will be very disappointed that he's not hit the target.

He's swung at it from six yards. Surely, if that had been on target, he'd have scored.

Fortunately for Coventry, it's gone wide.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 33 mins

    Southampton 1-2 Leicester

    By Southampton's Gavin Bazunu.

A powerful low strike was drilled by Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi from the edge of the box.

But the 6ft 2 Irish keeper is equal to it and gets low and pushes the ball away.

  9. CLOSE!published at 39 mins

    Hull 0-1 Coventry

    Aaron Connolly should have scored!

The ball falls for the Hull forward at close range, and he clumps his finish wide.

Liam Rosenior was saying before this game that he was disappointed Connolly didn't get him Kylian Mbappe's shirt from his international duty with the Republic of Ireland against France.

The Tigers supremo will be more disbelieving than disappointed with that miss. Mbappe would probably have scored from there with his eyes shut.

    Southampton 1-2 Leicester

Southampton's manager Russell Martin said midweek that he thought this match versus Leicester would be; "a brilliant advert for Championship football."

    So far he's not wrong.

You can read more about it here.

    Hull 0-1 Coventry

Scott Twine and Liam Kelly go at each other over at least one contentious refereeing decision.

Hull manager Liam Rosenior and Coventry counterpart Mark Robins both have a grumble in their technical areas.

Twine then responds with a shot that is blocked behind.

    Southampton 1-2 Leicester

    Now Southampton are cooking.

Looking so much more confident on the ball.

It's Leicester who are back tracking inside their own half now.

  13. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Hull 0-1 Coventry

Coventry are closing in on a half-time lead.

There should be a fair amount of added time in this half, though, because of a flare-related incident that delayed the resumption of play after they scored.

    The hosts have one back.

A mistake from the Leicester centre-back Callum Doyle who gives the ball away halfway inside his own half.

It's pounced upon by Che Adams who feeds a running Sam Edozie into the box who chips the ball over the keeper from close range.

  15. goal

GOAL: Salford 0-1 Notts Countypublished at 20:25 British Summer Time 15 September 2023

    David McGoldrick

Notts County's prospects of flying top of League Two are looking considerably better than Hull's are of reaching the Championship summit.

Deadly David McGoldrick has headed the Magpies in front eight minutes from the break at Salford.

    Southampton 0-2 Leicester

There is no doubt Leicester are on top. Seriously on top.

Southampton look decent going forward and are creating some half chances.

    But their defence is shocking.

  17. ouch!

    Hull 0-1 Coventry

A moment of panic for Coventry: Ben Wilson just about beats Aaron Connolly to a misplaced pass.

Connolly goes down in a heap. No punishment is necessary for Wilson, who rescued his side there.

  18. Another costly mistake from Saintspublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 15 September 2023

    Southampton 0-2 Leicester

    Jo Tessem
Ex-Southampton midfielder on BBC Radio Solent

Southampton look totally confused at the back.

Leicester are so much more comfortable on the ball.

  19. 'Hull are stunned'published at 20:23 British Summer Time 15 September 2023

    Hull 0-1 Coventry

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

It's been all Coventry for the last five minutes. The goal stunned Hull a little bit.

    Coventry's tails are firmly up.

In-form Haji Wright fires a shot over the crossbar in the culmination of a neat move. Hull look ragged at the back.
