Cole Palmer has the technique from this range - has he got the execution in this moment? Not quite. The England Under-21 international bends and dips the ball onto the roof of the Brentford net.

All hands to the pump for Brentford as they try to see this out to half-time. Yoan Wissa is back defending but tugs the shirt of Moises Caicedo and gives away a free-kick in a very dangerous position.

Agree with Gareth. Porch's influence all over Chelsea. Zero trophies incoming.

Brentford are almost in! The visitors are a little more adventurous as the half ticks towards the break, finding Aaron Hickey in space on the left side of the box. But the Scot's touch is heavy and lets Chelsea off the hook.

Rich: Would love a player cam on Cole Palmer, his movement is so intelligent, don't think he's misplaced a pass yet

Still Chelsea ask questions. Full-back Marc Cucurella pops up in the Brentford box once again, but is unable to divert the ball at Mark Flekken's goal.

Imagine if Chelsea leave the back door open after all this pressure. Brentford go long with a ball into the box and a few hearts flutter as Robert Sanchez gallops out of his six-yard box. No panic - solid claim.

Still the chances - or half chances - keep coming for Chelsea. Axel Disasi almost unlocks the door, before Noni Madueke sees a shot blocked.

This game feels the same as most of Chelsea's matches this season, playing well but just can't break through.

Brentford are doing really well getting men behind the ball. But Chelsea are passing it, getting into good decisions, but there is no aggression when shooting, no 'I have to score' mentality about them.

To illustrate Chelsea's dominance, if that isn't abundantly clear already, look at this stat.

In the past five minutes, 48.1% of the game has been played in the Brentford third.

Finally starting to see the Pochettino’s influence coming through at Chelsea. The control of possession, improved passing and sheer work rate of the players is so much better than before. You get the feeling that they just need to really believe in themselves to properly flourish now.

    Another minute, another Chelsea attack.

Raheem Sterling down the left, but his cutback is calmly cut out by Kristoffer Ajer who passes out from the back.

Not quite clicking for Chelsea in the box.

Cole Palmer has been very impressive so far, dropping into pockets to create, always scanning to receive and looking to play forward. He also has the energy and desire to run forward when he sees the opportunity.

The rotation from this Chelsea team in attacking areas has been excellent. Thomas Frank will want his Brentford team to have longer spells of possession.

Hmmm. Maybe I was wrong with my initial assessment about the peno shout, will take another look at half-time.

In fairness, you need to almost commit assault in my formative years playing in the Doncaster Sunday Alliance League to get a penalty.

Adrian: How has that not been given as a penalty? I genuinely don’t understand the officiating anymore.

Noel: That's a stonewall penalty for Chelsea!! Sterling was clearly pushed in the back!

Judith T: How is that not a penalty. Clear push in the back. Sterling didn't even need to dive. Anywhere else on the pitch that's a free kick.
