    AC Milan 0-0 Newcastle

Milan are sensing their moment now!

Yunus Musah does fine work on the right to get the ball into the box. Olivier Giroud's flick over his head almost sends the ball to Theo Hernandez but Miguel Almiron is back to slide in and whip the ball away from him.

Florenzi knew what he was doing, who he was aiming for.

Rafael Leao has to be able to get that on target. Had it been a goal it would've been an absolute classic. It's taken all the energy I think Leao had left in his legs to get there.

    Massive chance!

Alessandro Florenzi charges forward down the right and whips over a superb cross that Rafael Leao rises to meet but heads over.

The forward's first real attacking act of the half and he should really score. Not that Newcastle will care.

I think the game has been stretched for 20 minutes. Milan aren't getting close enough, they're just too tired.

There's space now and I think that should suit Newcastle. They've got good technical players in the midfield and should be able to use that.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    AC Milan 0-0 Newcastle

Newcastle respond with another sub, sending on Elliott Anderson for Sandro Tonali, who gets a great reception from the home fans.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 72 mins

    AC Milan 0-0 Newcastle

Yunus Musah, the summer signing from Valencia and USA international, is on for Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Decent replacement.

Shame for the England man, though. He looked to be enjoying himself.

    AC Milan 0-0 Newcastle

Ruben Loftus-Cheek looks to have hurt himself in that run.

He's dropped to the turf after pulling up. Looks like his night is over.

  8. Postpublished at 70 mins

    AC Milan 0-0 Newcastle

Ruben Loftus-Cheek goes on another of those driving runs, this time down the right. His cross is too close to Nick Pope, though.

  9. Postpublished at 69 mins

    AC Milan 0-0 Newcastle

Milan are certainly not the threat they were in the first 45 minutes. Rafael Leao hasn't really been in this since the break.

Callum Wilson has just made a run into the wide area, dragged two players, got the ball further up the field, really selfless movement, and it's what Newcastle have wanted. Eddie Howe knows he's going to get that out of him. He might only get 25-30 minutes out of him but that might be enough.

The first goal in this gets more important with every passing second.

    Almost brilliant from Tijjani Reijnders!

He gathers the ball midway inside the Newcastle half, carries it, beats a man but then can't beat Nick Pope with his low shot.

I'm slightly disappointed for Samuel Chukwueze. I think he played exceptionally well. He's come off and Christian Pulisic as a direct replacement for him. He's had a great start to the season for Milan.

Eddie Howe opts for a couple of changes too. On comes Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron. Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon go off.

Christian Pulisic is quickly on the ball, but his cross from the right floats over everyone and goes out of play.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 62 mins

    AC Milan 0-0 Newcastle

Here come Tijjani Reijnders and Christian Pulisic, who have both started every Milan game prior to this, this season.

Tommaso Pobega and Samuel Chukwueze are off.

For a moment it looks like Newcastle can break but Anthony Gordon's pass asks too much of Alexander Isak, who loses out to Fikayo Tomori.

I'm not saying Milan have run out of gas but they're certainly not as intense as they were in the first half.

Lots of gaps beginning to open up now, particularly on the right hand side. Kieran Trippier can run at them all night long. Things are definitely looking up for Newcastle now.
