Former England and Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

What you are seeing with Manchester United is a fractious team, they have confidence and leadership issues.

There was no balance with the team and I understand they were chasing it, but you do it with a shape and a foundation Ten Hag is going to be tested to his maximum as a manager.

The changes were okay from Ten Hag the impact of Martial and Garnacho they were positive changes, but then the shape of the team is wrong. The ability to release players has to come from a foundation and that comes from the manager.

At one point you look at Casemiro he is playing centre-forward leaving Musiala free who was relishing the opportunity.

Casemiro is not being helped at all by Eriksen or Fernandes and that is difficult for him to manage that position on his own.

Martin: 4-3 could have been 4-0 and the game would have looked the same. United looked out of their depth and - shockingly - will be happy with the score.

Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham, speaking to TNT Sports: "It is always good to score late because it normally confirms the game.

"It was just that mentality we have shown all season. If there are setbacks we keep going right until the end.

"I am new to the club but I have had a TV since I was little and since I can't remember what age I have been watching Real Madrid make comebacks from situations you thought impossible.

"It is important I keep learning from the guys in there. I just have to keep going on the path I am on."

On if it has met his expectations to play for this club: "More. I have Goosebumps talking about it now. I am so grateful to be at this club.

"You don't really understand how big this club is until you play for them and now I have that honour."

Anon: Just don't know what Bruno adds to the game as captain. His performance is massively poorer than before. But personally I think he's done. Leading up to Bayern's 4th goal he had no urgency to get in the box, watched the ball and bang we've conceded another. Very poor by the captain there.

Seth: Onana is the kind of character we need at Man United. How many players would come out to speak to the media to admit their mistakes like he did tonight. People will focus on his only mistake tonight but he did well and made some great saves tonight.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel told DAZN: “It was a bit paradoxical because our second half was better than our first, but we lost the second and won the first. Tonight’s result was big for our confidence and development, but there are still things to work on.

"We’re posing a threat in every game, creating chances in every game, but we were very reserved in the opening exchanges and lucky not to fall behind. The goals helped up establish some confidence and fluidity. We're not 100% happy so far, but the reactions to adversity tonight were very good."

The interesting thing is what Arsenal do on Sunday against Tottenham.

What will happen on Sunday? Does Ramsdale get the nod or does Raya keep the shirt?

They pushed Man City all the way last season, so it is really tough to be at that level all the time. They have made some really good signings and they have a really good squad who will be a problem to anybody that plays them.

The lack of leadership on the pitch is clear, Fernandes giving the ball away straight after United dade it 3-2 is telling. A captain is there to control the team not constantly add pressure to them. Rashford making martial look good again. Poor all around top to bottom.

FT: Bayern Munich 4-3 Manchester United

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to TNT Sports: "Disappointed because we should stay in the game. If you score three goals at Bayern Munich you have to take a point.

"We are in a period, a lot is going against us. We have to make our own luck. We've played great teams in the last three games."

On Andre Onana accepting the blame in his interview: "It's good he's doing that but it's about the team. Mistakes are being made but you have to bounce back as a team. If one player makes a mistake, it's done, its gone. We have to believe as a team that we can always bounce back. Tonight we showed it."

On Saturday's game with Burnley: "Every game is important. Every game is huge. We have to make our own luck. Nobody can help you.

"Stay in the game and don't allow the opponent to score a goal. it's not about one mistake. It was too easy for the player to have the shot."

On how they can change things: "We, team, me included, only we can do it. It's in our hands, nobody else."

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane to TNT Sports: "Crazy finish. For the majority of the game we controlled it and dictated the tempo. We just lost a bit of concentration in the last five minutes. Thankfully we held onto the lead."

On his start: "It's been nice. It's always great to score. Always room for improvement. It's a great night tonight. We're building. We can enjoy this."

On his new team-mates: "As a striker I know I'll get chances. It's exciting to play with them. We're still getting to know each other. I'm excited for what's to come.

"Whenever there's a big price tag there's a big expectation and you want to repay the club who have put faith in you."

On United: "They are going through a difficult spell with injuries. They have a lot of talent - you saw that in the last five minutes. Overall I'm not too worried about them, I'm more focused on myself."

FT: Bayern Munich 4-3 Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana to TNT Sports: "It's difficult. We started very good. After my mistake we lost control of the game. It's a difficult situation for us, for me.

"The team were one down because of that mistake. I have to learn from it and be strong. I'm happy with the comeback of the team.

"I have a lot to prove. My start in Manchester hasn't been so good, not how I want. This was one of my worst games. We have big ambition.

"It's a tough time. We have to be together and work hard."

"In between the boxes there are things to improve but inside the boxes we were phenomenal."

On squad depth: "Good headaches. It is probably the hardest thing in the job [to leave players out] because you get emotionally attached to them. It has been a beautiful journey with them."

On celebrating this win: "Enjoy tonight, go home and have a nice late dinner with my wife. I will enjoy the moment, enjoy the victory and tomorrow I will focus on Spurs because we have a big game coming up."

I'm really pleased for Rasmus Hojlund to get off the mark. It will do him the world of good. It was a scrappy goal.

But when they scored Bayern turned it on for the next five minutes and scored another goal.

On the penalty for a Christian Eriksen handball...

I think it was in an unnatural position. He's got his arm out. In this day and age that's a penalty.
