French David, in Huddersfield: Disrespectful and rather clueless approach by PSG tonight, got what they deserved. Did Luis Enrique not study Newcastle's playing style? PSG will not win the UCL with such arrogance!

Manchester City have now equalled the longest European unbeaten run by an English club.

They are level on 16 with Leeds (1967-1968), Tottenham (1967-1972), Chelsea (2018-2019) and West Ham, whose run started last year and is still going too.

Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff speaking to TNT Sports after the win over PSG: "It's some night. I think we knew it was going to be special with the atmosphere but for me and Burny [Dan Burn] to score on a night like tonight is pretty surreal and I am lost for words really.

"It is [a dream come true]. I think to be honest there are some of us that thought three years ago we were probably out of the door and it wasn't a great place to be. I am so proud to be from Newcastle and I am over the moon."

Will your parents be proud? "Yeah they will be and I think they will probably be a bit drunk as well. They probably weren't planning to drink on a Wednesday night but that might have changed!"

Have you ever been more up for a game than this? "I think the [Carabao Cup] semi-final last year was similar but this is a different level. They have some of the best players in the world and we want to go against them and show how good we are."

On asking for Mbappe's shirt: "I was blocking him from the goal kick and I thought I'd ask him and I was trying to get it for my little brother."

Will many Geordies be in work tomorrow? "I hope not! If they've ever got an excuse not to go in, it's this."

Alvarez is criminally underrated. He's basically completed football over the last couple of years and he's getting better and better.

    Manchester City

Manchester City forward Phil Foden, speaking to TNT Sports: "We know what they are about. Last time we played them, we were very good in the first half and then they came out in the second and performed."

On Julian Alvarez: "Magical. Julian has been top this season. He is someone we look to now to score the big goals. He came on and changed the game and he is a big player for us."

On Rico Lewis: "Rico Lewis was brilliant for us today. He broke a lot of lines. I am happy for him and it is nice to have another academy player on the pitch with me."

On getting back to winning ways: "The last two games have not been ideal for us. We came off the back of two rubbish results and we had to make that right."

Soak it up. Soak it up for as long as you possibly can, because you don't get many nights like this.

What you need at a heart of the performance like this is desire, togetherness and all those layers they have.

Very cool. Thoroughly deserved tonight, Leipzig were going for the equaliser and on the counter-attack it was great play from Haaland. It was a great pass to Doku who opens his body up and slides it past the goalkeeper.

    Cherry. On. The. Cake.

Central defender Fabian Schar has had an excellent night, and he tops it off by playing a one-two with Jacob Murphy and pinging a shot into the top corner from 25 yards!

He was even slipping over as he struck it, but when it's your night, it is absolutely your night.
