Newcastle 1-0 PSG
Newcastle haven't won a proper trophy since 1969? The Champions League would be a good trophy to stop the rot.

You have got to say it is a bit of a mess from the defence. They got caught out and it was a fantastic save from the first one but Almiron reacts first and it is a brilliant finish.
Newcastle have started to win the ball higher up the field and they have been rewarded.
Celtic 1-0 Lazio
Good news just north of Newcastle too, as Celtic take the lead against Lazio through Kyogo.
Follow that game here.
RB Leipzig 0-0 Man City
Bernardo Silva tries to make amends for his earlier miss as he cuts in from the right before bending a shot towards goal. It is blocked and there's appeals for a handball but nothing is given.

Bernardo Silva on the back post and I am not sure how he has missed it. He puts it past the post.
Rico Lewis picking up some great positions, he is just wandering into areas. Lewis has started the game really well.
Miguel Almiron (17 mins)
MIGGY!
A defensive nightmare for PSG as they are caught playing out from the back, Marquinhos with the poor pass.
It coems to Alex Isak whose low shot is well saved by Gigi Donnarumma, but the rebound is coolly finished into the corner by Miguel Almiron.
St. James' Park erupts.
RB Leipzig 0-0 Man City
How are Manchester City not ahead?
A lovely turn by Rico Lewis inside the box. His shot is blocked but the ball comes out to Phil Foden, who sends the ball towards the far post for Bernardo Silva, who somehow shins wide.
Should be 1-0.
Newcastle 0-0 PSG
Free-kick to Newcastle 25 yards out central, after Manuel Ugarte cuts down Miguel Almiron...
Kieran Trippier hits the wall.

They have slowed it down a little bit now and they are just starting to get a foothold in the game. They have been chasing the Paris Saint-Germain players in the opening stages but they are starting to get a bit of confidence and enjoy their football here.
Newcastle 0-0 PSG
Alex Isak cuts inside from the left, and has Newcastle's first shot of the game which is blocked by Marquinhos.
He was fed by Sandro Tonali, who has started this game looking much more convincing than he did against Milan.
Miguel Almiron then shoots over from 25 yards.

Rico Lewis is picking up some great positions in-between the lines, if a City player can find him.
Erling Haaland has not had a touch yet I don't think, but as soon as that ball gets into that penalty area he will get the first touch. Manchester City are dominating the ball, but have not threatened the goal yet.
Newcastle 0-0 PSG
Newcastle have started this match at a million miles an hour, pressing PSG all over the park.
They are being carried by the atmosphere and adrenaline currently, but that won't last 90 minutes.
Alex Isak gets penalised for a push on Milan Skriniar when he thinks he's clean through.
RB Leipzig 0-0 Man City
A pretty familiar opening 10 minutes for Manchester City as they dominate possession, patiently passing the ball around looking or trying to make openings.
Rico Lewis has been heavily involved so far and making some good runs off the ball to get into space. He looks really up for this.

Craig: Lots of talk of the atmosphere, the expectation, the drone shows, the CL anthem and the potential of NUFC. Just remember that this club has not won a major trophy since 1969. Imagine what will happen when they do.
Jon: Looking forward to this, in truth, I think we all are: time for NUFC to walk the walk…

Anthony Gordon whirls his arms in the direction of the home fans to get them going after chasing down a PSG defender. Not sure they need that much encouragement with the din inside St. James' Park.
Kylian Mbappe is getting jeered but almost set up the opener for Ousmane Dembele.
Newcastle 0-0 PSG
Newcastle get a free-kick just inside their own half, and send up all the big men from the back. They want to make the most of any opportunity.
Jamaal Lascelles wins the header but cannot flick the ball on to a team-mate.
RB Leipzig 0-0 Man City
Xaver Schlager pinches the ball off Rico Lewis but the youngster recovers superbly to chase after Schlager and win the ball back.
Lewis is then over a Manchester City free-kick but scoops it up high and too deep and the ball is behind for a goal-kick.
Newcastle 0-0 PSG
PSG so nearly take the lead!
Kylian Mbappe shows his ability for the first time with an inch-perfect cross to the far post finding Ousmane Dembele in acres of space.
Somehow Dembele volleys off target. Let off for Newcastle.

It is a nervous start. I think even PSG have not started that brightly. But it is going to take five or 10 minutes for this game to settle. The atmosphere has been absolutely electric.
