There's a roar in Hamburg. Shakhtar Donetsk have taken the lead against Barcelona.

It's a brilliantly worked goal with possession switched out to Giorgi Gocholeishvili on the right.

The Georgian fires in a fine delivery which forward Danylo Sikan rises highest to meet, nodding the ball into the top corner.

    Boom. A shock is on.

Howe being found out in the Champions League. Out of his depth. We need someone experienced to save our European season.

That's more positive. Tino Livramento is given a tough task as he is handed the ball on the right with men around him, but he weaves forward and wins a free-kick for his side.

Newcastle look exhausted. Their threadbare squad missing some real key players is doing its best to stay regimented. The international break can't come quick enough for them.

Can Newcastle find a way back in before the break?

Joelinton lobs a cross to the back post from the left but it's too deep for Callum Wilson.

They're getting little moments in the Dortmund half, but they've yet to really make anything from them.

Bruno Guimaraes is such an influential player for them, Newcastle can't afford to lose him for any of these games.

I'd like to see Newcastle with a bit more urgency with the ball.

    Oh, there's a chance!

Joelinton looks like he's timed his run perfectly in behind the Dortmund defence as the ball is chipped over the top. When the crucial moment to control comes, though, he allows the ball to slip from his foot and to the home keeper.

    Another good chance for Dortmund.

They work the ball right and then to the edge of the box for Marcel Sabitzer to meet first time but fire over.

Dortmund have the opener. That was key for them.

After pushing hard in that opening 25 minutes they've now eased off. Maybe looking to draw Newcastle out in pursuit of a leveller, leaving space for them to hit in behind. Karim Adeyemi is lightning, after all.

The 'Yellow Wall' is bouncing. Literally.

You can't say it was coming, but Newcastle find themselves a goal down and will need to dig in and find something now.

Again they have to weather this storm that will now come before half-time.

How lucky was that. Numerous lucky ricochets and bounces. No luck for us there. Ridiculously soft yellow on Hall. Everything against us tonight.

Kieran Trippier's corner is met by Jamaal Lascelles, but he is leaning backwards and can't get enough power on his effort.

    Newcastle looking for a response.

They win a corner as Tino Livramento's volleyed cross is blocked behind.

Dortmund are unbeaten in their last six home games in the Champions League (W3 D3), and have only conceded one goal in this run.

Indeed, Dortmund could keep four consecutive clean sheets at home for the first time ever in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League (currently on a run of three).

    Oh no.

Newcastle have problems now. They have numerous chances to halt Dortmund and clear but miss them all. The home side free Marcel Sabitzer in the area and his low pull back is finished high into the net by Niklas Fullkrug.

Dortmund have been the better side. Now the visitors need a big response.

That was better from Newcastle. Eddie Howe will be happy enough at 0-0. They will have to weather a storm being away from home.

However, Newcastle must stop Dortmund playing through the midfield.

    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Newcastle

Newcastle have weathered 20 minutes and now they are looking to give Dortmund some concern at the other end.

They win a corner, which is worked short for Kieran Trippier to drive in, only for a home player to hack clear.

Not much to shout about in our other early fixture in the Champions League.

Shakhtar Donetsk are limiting Barcelona to shots from range in Hamburg and have had the match's best chance so far.

Mykola Matvienko was sent clear over the top but hesitated, delivering a tame effort which was blocked by Joao Cancelo.

A rare charge forward for Newcastle, but they can't work the ball to Callum Wilson in the area - the ball beating him out for a goal kick.
