Erling Haaland gave his shirt to Young Boys skipper Mohamed Ali Camara as the pair walked off the field at half-time.

Imagine what Roy Keane would make of that?

Were my eyes deceiving me? Were City and Young Boys players swapping shirts as the teams walked off at half-time?

Brendan Rodgers will be happy to hear the half-time whistle.

Ten-man Celtic are now two goals behind to Atletico Madrid after Alvaro Morata scored shortly before the break.

I'm not sure if it is Young Boys not wanting to open themselves up by pushing forward or simply not being able to, but the Swiss side are barely having any possession in Manchester City's final third.

It feels very much as though they are happy to enjoy the experience of facing the European champions, not get beaten too badly and take their chances on facing Red Star Belgrade - at home - on 28 November knowing victory would put them into the Europa League play-offs.

Jack Grealish fired the ball into Phil Foden to say - 'can you handle it?' What a touch! It was beautiful.

Foden's touch was ridiculous. A peach of a goal.

GOAL - Man City 2-0 Young Boyspublished at 45 mins

    Phil Foden

That's why he is one of England's most gifted young footballers!

A wonderful piece of vision and imagination by Jack Grealish to spot Phil Foden out wide.

Foden's first touch is impeccable as he cuts into the box and beats the keeper with a low curling shot.

    Wonderful stuff.

This is like a training session for City. They're comfortably in control but still only the one goal. Pep Guardiola will be demanding more.

Now Young Boys are enjoying their best passage of play. It ends with a foul on Jack Grealish. The visitors are yet to carve out a chance.

Ederson's biggest problem right now is keeping dry.

By the way, great shift from Kyle Walker so far after his late call-up into the starting XI following Manuel Akanji's withdrawal. The City captain is leading by example.

What are the chances of that?

Phil Foden delivers an inviting ball into the box for Erling Haaland but it comes at him too quickly, hits his body and rolls into Anthony Racioppi's arms.

Another smile from Haaland who knows he should have had a second.

Sandro Lauper is walking a tightrope. He was on a booking when he gave away the penalty but the referee decided against showing him another card. He's just gone in hard but gets away with it.

You can see Pep Guardiola has faith in Mateo Kovacic. No Rodri and he does not see it as a problem. He is very comfortable with the ball - clearly that is not the case with someone like Kalvin Phillips.

The most impressive thing about Young Boys? Their fans have been terrific. And still they sing despite their side trailing.

City have been relentless and the only surprise is they have only scored one.

Seven attempts, five on target, 78% possession and Erling Haaland is playing like it's the Champions League final.

  19. Celtic down to 10 menpublished at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2023

    Atletico Madrid 1-0 Celtic

It's not been the start to the evening Celtic will have hoped for...

They're trailing Atletico Madrid and winger Daizen Maeda has just been shown a red card.

Brendan Rodgers' men face an uphill battle.

Erling Haaland is an absolute machine.
