Matty Renton, The Magpie Channel TV, external:

"Mind blowing" is the term I'm going to use to describe Eddie Howe.

He continues to blow my mind and silence the doubters. When he named three goalkeepers and four teenagers on the bench against Chelsea, many backed the resurgent Londoners to come away with a win up north. Yet Howe found a way - as he always does - to prove people wrong.

Around world football, Mauricio Pochettino is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the game. If there was one manager any club in the world would hire, any fan would want, I think it would be from Saturday's home dugout.

Howe manages to drill his intense style of play into anyone he picks. They outfought and outshone Chelsea's billion-pound team.

Lewis Miley, a 17-year-old local lad, stole the show in the middle of the park against a £200m midfield pair in Enzo Fernandez and, latterly, Moises Caicedo. What a game from the Geordie teenager, who looks to have a very bright future. Under Howe's guidance, the sky is the limit.

The next big test awaits the gaffer and the Toon Army as they make the trip to Paris for a crucial Champions League game. If anyone can pull a momentous victory out of the bag... it’s King Eddie.

    Barcelona v Porto (20:00 GMT)

Barcelona missed out on reaching the knockout stage for the first time in three years when they failed to pick up a point against Shakhtar Donetsk.

But the five-time winners can still advance with a game to spare if they beat FC Porto tonight.

Porto and Shakhtar, who meet each other on matchday six, remain in contention to qualify.

    FT: Lazio 2-0 Celtic

Celtic are out of the Champions League.

Lazio have just beaten the Scottish champions thanks to two late Ciro Immobile strikes.

    Newcastle United

Newcastle full-back Kieran Trippier, speaking to TNT Sports: "Everyone is relaxed. We all know as a team what the result means tonight if we win or lose."

On if beating PSG in the home game will give them confidence: "It seems a long time ago, PSG have had some very good results and scoring lots of goals recently. It is in the past, we can take confidence from that game and Chelsea but tonight is a different game.

"We have to stick to our principles and go after PSG, like we have done in evert game this season. We will be on the front foot to try and win the game."

    BBC Sport reporter

Paris St-Germain could reach the Champions League last 16 for the 12th season running if they beat Newcastle.

Yet their record in the competition is still mocked by many outside the French capital.

They have reached just one final, when they were beaten by Bayern Munich in 2020, and a solitary semi-final, which they lost to Manchester City the following season.

PSG have spent lots of money and boasted some of the biggest names in the game, including Neymar, Lionel Messi, Thiago Silva, Angel di Maria, Edinson Cavani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and, still, Kylian Mbappe.

But chief revenue officer Marc Armstrong rejects completely the assertion PSG's status is diminished by their failure to lift the biggest trophy in the European club game.

"You don't have to win the Champions League to be a successful football club," he said.

"Would we love to win it? Yes."

Newcastle's injury list is lengthy but one positive is the emergence of 17-year-old Lewis Miley.

Miley started against Chelsea and assisted the opening goal in their 4-1 victory at St James' Park.

Now manager Eddie Howe says the teenager "is ready" to be involved in the Champions League.

"He has a great temperament for these occasions," added Howe.

"The thing I loved about him after the game on Saturday, [was that] it was just another game for him."

Newcastle fans have been told to "stick together" in Paris before tonight's game after footage on social media appeared to show supporters being attacked in a bar.

Representatives of the Newcastle United Supporters' Club (NUSC) were in the bar at the time.

"A group of around 30 PSG fans turned up and stood outside," said an NUSC spokesperson.

"[They] threw a flare and chairs at the windows and doors. Nobody was majorly hurt and then they left.

"The advice is for everyone to stick together and look after each other."

Newcastle fan Eddie McKay, 58, was stabbed in Italy in September before the club's Champions League group game at AC Milan.

I came up to the Etihad Stadium earlier today for the unveiling of the statue to Colin Bell, Francis Lee and Mike Summerbee.

I got chatting to the sculptor, David Williams-Ellis, who admitted he was nervous at the reaction.

He need not have worried. It is a magnificent piece.

But I didn't realise the detail it required.

"My secret is that I work from life," he said.

"I researched each one, found hundreds of pictures and found certain styles with each player; Colin’s finger stuck out, the Summerbee swerve. Francis was always chest out.

"Then I had models standing in; a young footballer for Colin, a personal trainer and footballer for Mike and my poor studio assistant was the right size for Francis.

"They held those positions for four or five months, with incredible difficulty."

There's a new work of art on display outside Etihad Stadium tonight.

A statue dedicated to club legends Colin Bell, Francis Lee and Mike Summerbee has been unveiled and is getting a lot of love.

Sculptor David Williams-Ellis is behind the tribute.

Bell, Lee and Summerbee made a combined 1,280 appearances and scored 368 goals for City.

They helped City win the title in 1967-68, FA Cup in 1969 and the League Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup in 1970.

This take on a famous quote from the legendary South African golfer Gary Player chimes with something Pep Guardiola says in his programme notes tonight.

Manchester City are looking to secure top spot in their Champions League group by avoiding defeat against RB Leipzig tonight.

It is already the 11th consecutive season in which they have reached the knockout phase.

"It is an honour to have qualified for last 16 already," says Guardiola.

"To win the first four games, having won the trophy last season, shows how much we are growing.

"To be in the last-16 for the 11th year in a row means club is doing so many good things.

"That level of consistency can't happen by chance."

No Pep. It involves a lot of hard work - and some pretty good players.

Definitely a bridge too far for Newcastle. Fortunate to get a draw in Milan and despite a decent win against PSG they were found out against Dortmund. Maybe in a few years they will be able to compete but not at this moment.

In June 2016, hundreds of fans gathered at Shanghai airport to watch one of the most famous footballers in the world make the city his home.

Hulk, a 29-year-old Brazil international at the peak of his powers, had been signed by Shanghai SIPG manager Sven-Goran Eriksson for more than £46m and would earn reported wages of £320,000 a week.

Over the next three years, he was joined by other big names, signed for even bigger price tags.

The rise of the Chinese Super League came alongside President Xi Jinping's wish to turn the country into a footballing nation.

Less than a decade on, though, the movement is in the opposite direction, with the bubble bursting and players leaving.

Manchester City only need a point to secure top spot. That's because they beat RB Leipzig 3-1 in Germany in October. Points in head-to-head matches are used to determine places ahead of goal difference.

Phil Foden gave City the lead against Leipzig in Germany while substitutes Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku also scored.

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe speaking to TNT Sports: "I think for every game we take it independently. This is a totally different game to the home match. We have planned for that.

"Every game is different, they have a different line-up. But it won't be too different from our principles.

"Jamaal Lascelles' really stepped up. He hadn't had a lot of football before coming into the team. He's led by example, scored a massive goal the other day to help us beat Chelsea. His performances have been really strong.

"To be us. We have to show our qualities. When I look back to Dortmund we were disappointed we didn't execute our plan. Today we have to be us, we have to execute what we need to do much better than those last two games.

"We're going to have to manage the early part of the game well.

"I've got no issues with the team tonight. Yes we have a lot of players missing, but the balance of the team is right. We don't have the strength and reserve we want, but the starting XI is strong."
