Much better from the hosts, but a sign that Wales could well need a second goal.

Aaron Ramsey really has been a servant to Wales.

He's in the top seven of Wales appearances, and when it comes to goals he's in the top six goals scored as well.

    Latvia 0-1 Wales

Latvia create their first chance, and they go so close to equalising!

Roberts Savalnieks' cross is headed backwards by Joe Rodon, and Janis Ikaunieks heads at Danny Ward who, at the second time of asking, claws the ball behind for a corner.

It's whipped into the Wales box, but Raimonds Krollis can't volley into an empty net at the back post.

    Latvia 0-1 Wales

Aaron Ramsey finds Brennan Johnson who cuts on to his left foot before unleashing a low driven strike just wide.

If Wales can get a second, you'd feel there's no way back for Latvia.

Seconds later, Harry Wilson fires straight at Roberts Ozols. Wales are dominant here.

Jordan James and Ethan Ampadu have looked so composed in midfield.

Wales go direct on the right wing. Brennan Johnson does really well to keep the ball in play and cross to Neco Williams who cuts on to his right before curling just wide.

That's another big chance for the visitors.

Wales have only lost one game in which Aaron Ramsey has scored, which bodes well.

    Latvia 0-0 Wales

The Red Wall belt out a rendition of 'Sing a song for Speedo' in tribute to the late Gary Speed.

You'd imagine the Wales supporters will be pleased with their side's efforts so far.

Danny Ward has been a spectator, in fairness.

    Ian Walsh
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

We should be at least 2-0 up by now.

I think the fluency of the play is good, my only concern is whether the boys have got their shooting boots on.

They're creating so many chances, I don't think Latvia will offer us any problems - so if we can get the first goal I think we can get a hatful.

The tempo has just slowed down a little in the last few minutes.

Wales remain happy to stay patient and retain possession where possible, but, as we've seen already, they're creating chances.

Wales supporters are outnumbering those from Latvia inside the compact Skonto Stadium in Riga.

It has the feel of a home game for Robert Page’s men, save for the pocket of black-shirted Latvian ultras behind Danny Ward’s goal.

  19. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Latvia 0-0 Wales

Harry Wilson goes close this time.

The Fulham star finds space just outside the Latvia 18-yard box. His shot takes a big deflection off Kaspars Dubra, but goalkeeper Roberts Ozols is alert enough to pounce on the ball.
