JH: RE: Ric at 21:06, if a Brighton team with Ansu Fati, Mitoma, Estupinan, Groß, March, Pedro, Milner is evidence of them not taking Europe seriously then I'd hate to see the XI they put out when they make Europe a priority!

    Brighton 2-2 AEK Athens

Brighton have a corner but first off goes Mijat Gacinovic for Petros Mantalos and Niclas Eliasson replaces Orbelin Pineda.

Too much on the Seagulls' corner and they're unable to get a shot on target.

    West Ham 2-1 Backa Topola

David Moyes chooses to add another into midfield as Danny Ings comes off for Tomas Soucek.

Ooooh, it's not too far away from Steven Zuber but he sends the free-kick wide.

Good opportunity for Brighton as Joao Pedro looks for his hat-trick but his low drive is saved well by Cican Stankovic, who turns it behind for a corner.

The longer the game went on and the visitors were still in it they always had that hope.

When West Ham got the equaliser you saw the heads drop and now they've gone in front they look like they're going to go on and win comfortably.

Credit to Backa Topola for hanging in as long as they can but it seems like there is only going to be one winner.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is treading a very fine line.

He is clearly furious with a number of decisions but he was fortunate to get away with sarcastically applauding the fourth official just then.

End to end at the Amex as Brighton squander an opportunity at one end before AEK Athens try to get on the counter.

But, Jan Paul van Hecke becomes the latest name to go into the book as he makes the challenge and concedes the free-kick around 25 yards out.

It's just starting to boil over here at the AMEX.

The referee is just losing control of this game, players going into challenges and some comings together.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 21 September 2023

Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi is into the book for having a go at the referee after that challenge on Tariq Lamptey.

    It's getting feisty out there.

    Mohammed Kudus (70 mins)

Two goals in four minutes, West Ham turn things around!

It comes from what feels like their 100th corner as James Ward-Prowse curls in a brilliant cross and Mohammed Kudus gets to the ball first, nodding into the far corner.

Not a bad first Hammers start for the former Ajax star.

    Woahhh.

Milad Mohammadi flies in on Tariq Lamptey and sends the defender absolutely flying off the pitch and into the microphones.

That is a really poor challenge, he gets nowhere near the ball.

Clearly it is a positive VAR is being used in the Europa League group phase to correct poor decisions.

But the fact it has had to step in twice now hardly fills anyone's confidence in Estonian referee Kristo Tohver making the right calls.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 21 September 2023

    Brighton 2-2 AEK Athens

In the midst of all of that, Gerasimos Mitoglou and Pervis Estupinian went into the book for dissent.

It seemed there were claims from some of the Brighton players that AEK players were attempting to scuff up the penalty spot.

Damian Szymanski has also gone into the referee's book for the original challenge.

    West Ham have their leveller!

London Stadium erupts as a quick counter sees Said Benrahma fire in a wicked delivery from the left handside.

Mohammed Kudus is waiting to tap home at the back post and his marker Nemanja Petrovic gets in a muddle, bundling the ball into his own net.

Now then, can West Ham get another and a crucial three points?

    No danger.

It's the same technique but this time slotted into the bottom right corner, sending the keeper the opposite way.

Such confidence from Joao Pedro to take his team level once again from the penalty spot.

The same combination again, Joao Pedro and Damian Szymanski.

Again the referee has waved the initial call away but I do not understand how he has not seen that in real time.

    That is a clear penalty.
