At that point, the goal was nothing less than Aberdeen deserved. It's an excellent finish.

They played themselves back into the game and they've been impressive.

  3. 'Aberdeen look dangerous'published at 18:47 British Summer Time 21 September 2023

    HT: Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

On the break Aberdeen have created a number of chances, they look dangerous. They're getting joy when they press high.

When you go down so early in the game, you worry about the mental state of the team. They haven't performed very well this season, how would they deal with it? They dealt with it really well.

They didn't lose any confidence, any belief or organisation. They haven't allowed any space between the back five. Frankfurt are struggling to create much.

Aberdeen will be delighted with the pace Frankfurt are playing at. It's quite slow, quite sloppy. There's no directness, not much width.

2014 was, probably, the best year of Mario Gotze's life.

At the height of his career, he scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup Final in Brazil.

Where was Nicky Devlin? He had just been released by Stenhousemuir.

  7. HALF-TIME: Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Aberdeenpublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 21 September 2023

So far, so very, very good for Aberdeen.

A solid defensive display and a goal to go with it.

More suffering is surely on the way, but Barry Robson can be so proud of his players for that first half.

Another Eintracht corner as Stefan Gartenmann turns behind a dangerous ball.

It's cushioned down at the back post but Aberdeen clear again.

Aberdeen have a corner to defend.

Lucky for them, it might be the worst corner ever in football history.

    Phfft, that looked decent.

Stefan Gartenmann drives one in but it's blocked well.

Dante Polvara's cross is then claimed at the front post.

This is a critical period for Aberdeen.

They've got to see this through to half-time at 1-1. They've been very comfortable, looked solid. You don't want to ruin that before the break.

Kelle Roos with another top-class save.

These Aberdeen players are desperate for half-time, but they can't undo all their hard work.

The flag is up anyway, but what a save that is from Kelle Roos.

A glorious ball in behind is met first time by Paxten Aaronson, but the Dons keeper tips it away.

    Aberdeen's shape is spot on.

They hold firm to clear another Eintracht attack.

The Germans have had 83% possession but just one shot on target. The penalty.
