It's getting busy out there, on The Hawthorns pitch.

Hopefully they’ll whittle it down to 22 players by 20:10!

No complaints from me, though. The pre-match playlist at The Hawthorns is magnificent - another 10 minutes will be great.

Yes, a reminder that West Brom v QPR will start 10 minutes late, as the away side got stuck in traffic while travelling to the ground.

    Swansea 0-0 Watford

Let’s hope Swansea and Watford fans have brought their rain coats with them tonight because it is forecast to hammer it down in South Wales.

The Swans have won their last two league games against the Hornets.

The last time they won three on the bounce over their opponents was way back in 1975.

Beautiful goal by Cardiff to take the lead at Huddersfield.

Low ball in from the right, Callum Robinson backheels towards goal and a little nick takes it past Lee Nicholls.

    Bluebirds up and running.

A scrappy goal and the Blackburn keeper will not be happy with that.

Millwall's big defender Wes Harding gets on the end of a free-kick and wins the header from close range.

It slips through Leopold Wahlstedt's hands and into the net.

    What a start.

    Millwall 0-0 Blackburn

We are under way at The Den.

Millwall have had mixed fortunes at home so far this season and have two wins, two defeats and a draw from their last five in-front of a home crowd.

Blackburn are in a similar boat, with two wins and three losses from their last five on the road.

You couldn’t put a cigarette paper between these two sides (or loo paper).

This isn't even the Swans' last home match before Bonfire Night. Maybe they're just excited to welcome Watford to south Wales.

    Here we go then.

We're getting under way in all but three of our games across the EFL tonight.

Championship leaders Leicester start against Sunderland at 20:00 BST, with West Brom v QPR now starting 10 minutes later - while in League One, Reading v Fleetwood is also a 20:00 kick-off.

  8. Sir Bobby Charlton rememberedpublished at 19:44 British Summer Time 24 October 2023

The passing of Sir Bobby Charlton at the age of 86 has resonated with football fans all over the world, and supporters at tonight's games will be able to pay their respects.

Teams will wear black armbands, and there will also be a minute's applause or silence at all matches.

One of the all-time greats, Charlton had a remarkable career; he was a survivor of the Munich plane crash in 1958, recovered to become a Manchester United legend with major domestic honours, an England World Cup winner in 1966 and a European Cup winner with his club two years later.

Individually, he was knighted, and won the Ballon D'Or, for the world's best player and was twice runner-up.

It was his gentlemanly demeanour, presence and style, aligned with a superb footballing talent, which helped cement his legacy. Legend is an oft-used word. but entirely appropriate.

Football is grateful for his deeds.

We've not forgotten West Brom's game with QPR by the way.

The kick-off has been delayed by the Rangers bus getting a little stuck in the evening traffic. It'll go ahead from 20:10 BST and we'll give you a flavour of that game sometime before it's under way.

There's a very tasty north west dust-up at the top of League Two to get involved with tonight, as leaders Stockport travel to third-placed Crewe.

Dave Challinor's County have won more games than any other team in the division with nine, and have won their last four away games, but Lee Bell's Alex are unbeaten in 14 home league matches and have scored a league-best 34 goals in just 14 games.

    Expect goals.

Matthew Etherington's first task as interim boss of strugglers Colchester is a trip to Grimsby, while fellow bottom-two side Sutton have a long trip to Hollywood darlings Wrexham.

High-fliers Notts County entertain Newport at Meadow Lane, sides with promotion ambitions in Swindon and Gillingham and Accrington Stanley and AFC Wimbledon meet, while Mansfield's miserly defence will look to shut out Harrogate on their travels.

Mike Williamson's first introduction to the home support as MK Dons boss brings Bradford to Buckinghamshire, while elsewhere, Walsall host Crawley, Doncaster play Salford and Barrow have a long trek south to Forest Green.

Can anyone beat Portsmouth, who are top of the table and undefeated in 24 league games? On paper struggling Cambridge don't look like the side to do it, but you could argue they are due a win - their last coming in early September.

Wycombe versus Bolton looks to be an entertaining affair, with the home side just outside the play-off places and the visitors chasing down the top two.

Blackpool could enter the play-off conversation with a win over bottom of the division Cheltenham.

In a congested mid-table no less than five teams - Charlton, Derby, Lincoln, Leyton Orient and Port Vale - could all charge up the table toward the top six with three points tonight.

Reading meet relegation rivals Fleetwood in the late game, with the winner in with a shout of moving towards safety.

  12. Slobber knocker in south Wales?published at 19:38 British Summer Time 24 October 2023

    Swansea v Watford (19:45 BST)

I think it would be fair to say both Swansea and Watford supporters were expecting more from their teams by this point in the season.

Both have failed to replicate the form that saw them finish 10th and 11th in the Championship table at the end of last season and they sit uncomfortably in the bottom third of the division.

But the Swans are trending in the right direction as we head into the colder months and were undefeated through five matches until Leicester rolled them over at the weekend.

The Hornets on the other hand have been more of a mystery and have struggled to pick up crucial points, with only 13 from 12 matches. Three of those came at the weekend against bottom of the league Sheffield Wednesday, but they left it late to get the win - scoring in the 82nd minute.

You have to think the football gods are favouring the home side in this one.

    Huddersfield v Cardiff (19:45 BST)

Jack Rudoni scores for Huddersfield against QPRImage source, Getty Images

Darren Moore's appointment as head coach at Huddersfield has been a relative slow-burner results-wise, although barring a 4-1 shellacking by Birmingham it's been all draws.

Saturday's win over QPR had felt a long time coming all the same, ending a six-game wait, although they had to do a fair bit of defending as the Rs launched a second-half comeback.

Kian Harrratt's return yielded a goal at the weekend, while Sorba Thomas' pace and trickery will be relied on as an outlet.

Cardiff know as much as anyone that a win can be a catalyst. Erol Bulut's side failed to win in their opening three Championship games but then buoyed by a victory rattled off six in the next eight.

The Bluebirds have had their wings clipped slightly, failing to win their past three. But, Bulut's side remain a threat and ex-Terriers man Karlan Grant might fancy marking his return to Kirklees with a meaningful contribution.

  14. Who can keep the momentum going?published at 19:34 British Summer Time 24 October 2023

    Millwall v Blackburn (19:45 BST)

The last time these two sides met Blackburn mounted a stunning comeback to deny Millwall a place in the Championship play-offs in May.

The Lions have licked their wounds and sharpened their claws since then and enter tonight's game at The Den on a decent run, with just one loss in six league games.

They remain under the care of interim manager Adam Barrett after their long-serving manager Gary Rowett left by mutual consent last week.

Meanwhile, Blackburn seem to have turned around their dismal form that extended from September and into early October, where they lost five of six league games.

Rovers are now on a two-game unbeaten run with back-to-back clean sheets as well.

Both these mid-table sides will be looking to extend their momentum and could leap up the table and into the top six with a win tonight.

One of our 'late', 20:00 BST Championship games will now kick-off even later.

QPR's team coach has been caught in traffic getting to The Hawthorns, so their game at West Brom will now start 10 minutes late.

  16. Norwich wipe away Farke tears for Boro testpublished at 19:29 British Summer Time 24 October 2023

    Norwich v Middlesbrough (19:45 BST)

Norwich had that horrible 'seen my ex doing well with a new partner' feeling at the weekend, as Daniel Farke returned to Carrow Road with Leeds and delivered a stinging 3-2 comeback win.

It would have been piercing enough without him, as the Canaries looked like a two-game winless run might just be coming to an end under David Wagner with a 2-0 half-time lead.

The efforts of Jonathan Rowe and Gabriel Sara are enough to give Norwich fans hope going forward at least, with both seemingly entwined in a equally prolific goalscoring duel.

Middlesbrough have come good after a horrid start, backfiring like a seized up banger before purring into life with six straight wins in league and cup.

It was on such a run that Boro's promotion bid was built last season, and with a revitalised Isaiah Jones and goals starting to flow for Morgan Rogers, Marcus Forss and Emmanuel Latte Lath, it's looking much rosier on Teesside right now.

Their 'ex' of note, last season's top scorer Chuba Akpom, is yet to score or win a game with new club Ajax, who are currently second-bottom of the Eredivisie. You win some, you lose some, eh?

    Leicester v Sunderland (20:00 BST)

Leicester players celebrate a goal for Jamie VardyImage source, Getty Images

Enzo Maresca must wonder what all the fuss is about with regards to management, having swanned into Leicester and taken the Foxes to top spot in the Championship with 11 wins from 12 games.

Pep Guardiola's old right-hand man is doing a decent job of steering the ship, aided in no small part by a squad that looks Premier League, acts Premier League, and if they carry on like this, will be Premier League again sooner rather than later.

In the other dugout tonight, Tony Mowbray knows not all days in management are as good as those Maresca's enjoying. He's been there, seen it and done it.

His Sunderland side hit the ground running this term, but have stuttered a bit of late with back-to-back losses.

There's talent within the group though, and if Jack Clarke and Jobe Bellingham get into gear, they can pose some problems but the absence of a striker has certainly tested Mowbray's tactical creativity as much as it has his squad.
