It's a sucker-punch. I have to say I thought it was offside, I was waiting for the flag to go up.

It's a more difficult finish than the one Wright had at the start of the second half when he put it wide.

Coventry have got a mountain to climb now.

GOAL: Coventry 0-2 West Brompublished at 69 mins

    Brandon Thomas-Asante

    Clinical.

That's a beauty of a ball from Matt Phillips who turns away from the Coventry defence and plays sub Brandon Thomas-Asante in on goal.

It looks like he goes early and might just be offside but there's no flag and Thomas-Asante needs no encouragement, he powers through and sends a fierce shot high past Ben Wilson.

    Great finish!

Coventry aren't happy but the Baggies' game plan is working as it did in Carlos Corberan's dreams last night.

    Coventry 0-1 West Brom

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at The Hawthorns

The Coventry fans have loyally stuck by their man by breaking into a supportive chant of "Haji Wright, Wright, Wright (to the tune of "Ian Wright, Wright, Wright", for those who can remember that far back in football history).

But everyone in the ground must know he should have scored that! Is that going to prove the key moment in this contest?

Having said that they're now chanting Callum O'Hare's name, having spotted him warming up!

    Coventry 0-1 West Brom

    Tony Brown
West Brom's all-time record goalscorer on BBC Radio WM

Brandon Thomas-Asante has got fresh legs and he's got the beating of defenders and you know these two teams can't keep this pace up for 90 minutes, it'll slacken off at some point.

There are a few grumbles going around the ground after that Wright miss. It was a big, big chance.

  13. YELLOW CARD: Milan van Ewijk (Coventry)published at 55 mins

    Coventry 0-1 West Brom

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

Haji Wright has been waiting for a one-v-one chance on the goalkeeper like that... he's done everything right but he's just put it the wrong side of the post. If he gets it right he scores.

West Brom have been playing a dangerous game with these tactics and I wondered if they'd have to change something - clearly they do...

  16. CLOSE!published at 21:15 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2023

    Coventry 0-1 West Brom

    How did he miss??

Golden chance for Coventry and Haji Wright blows it.

The hosts had been struggling to create so West Brom's Alex Mowatt decides to do it for them - his tackle inadvertently sending Wright through on goal - but the American striker fluffs his lines badly.

He opens his body up, draws the keeper but then puts it wide.

    Big, big miss.

    Coventry 0-1 West Brom

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

Coventry have done well since they've gone behind but I have to say I am very disappointed with West Brom's tactics, they are sitting very deep and they just can't get out.

They are ok when they start to build but it's few and far between. I'm interested if they'll have to make a change soon.

The second half has picked up where the first left off with West Brom sitting back and allowing Coventry to have the ball.
