  1. Solanke involvement is touch and gopublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Bournemouth v Arsenal (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola on the fitness of Dominic Solanke: "We will see today. We are training this afternoon. Yesterday he could not train but that is normal after a game that was two days ago and he will give it a try today and see if he has improved and if he can help us against Arsenal.

"I don't think we are looking at [the] Everton [game]. We are looking at Arsenal and we have to make sure if he is 100 per cent he can help us. If he is not, another player will be up front. At the end, he will be the one making the decision. He is the one who knows how he feels."

On other players: "We are waiting still on some players and will see how they feel. This week is really tight and I'm sure with Arsenal it will be the same."

On Tyler Adams: "We will take decisions according to how he feels and how we see him. He has been out for a long time and we have to monitor how he recovers and we will take the decision."

Of all the PL managers, Arteta is by far the most evasive and misleading regarding injury updates and team news. Might as well not bother asking him team news. Some of us have fantasy football teams to manage here Mikel. It’s not all about the real world.

  3. 'Still some work to do'published at 11:55 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Tottenham v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Michael Brown banner

Jurgen Klopp has said he is building a new Liverpool and that is what is happening. They have gone about their job quietly and crept up the table away from everything. They will be really delighted.

This weekend [against Tottenham] is a huge task for them and we will have to see how their midfield stacks it.

In modern football, you see the number-six role, which the likes of Rodri at Manchester City have mastered. Who does it for Liverpool, especially against James Maddison who will try and get into pockets?

That is the question for me - what is their structure? It depends on what they do in the wider areas but I do not know who will be the natural sitter every week. I think there is still some work to do.

At Spurs, Liverpool will open it up and play back-to-front quickly and that will empty the space. It's a really big game to see where these two clubs are and to show how Liverpool do things against the bigger teams. I think they need to win again to keep right on at Manchester City.

It will be really interesting to see how they cope.

Tottenham v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp says that the way Tottenham set up under Ange Postcoglou is different to what he's been used to against the Lilywhites: "Both teams will play football [in Saturday's fixture]. That is good news and new news because in recent years you played against the best counter-attacking team in the world."

  5. Champions League qualification 'will be difficult'published at 11:46 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Tottenham v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp, speaking ahead of Saturday's clash with Tottenham about the race for the Champions League: "Chelsea and Tottenham having no European football and being able to train all week when we and all the others travel makes it difficult.

"The performance is as important as the result; I would take a win, but it wouldn't give me an indication to where we are. There will be dips and difficult moments; we show we can adapt but we do not start the game in a great way. There is a lot of work to do. This is a tough week. Tottenham away, Union [Saint-Gilloise] at home and Brighton away are all tests."

  6. 'It is good news; the money will be well used'published at 11:41 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Tottenham v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp was also asked in his news conference about the new investment at Liverpool, with no increase to the transfer budget: "I can understand that people want to spend money. I'm part of that as well. We shouldn't forget we are building a new stand, which will improve the atmosphere [at Anfield]. We built another stand, a training ground, bought Melwood [former training ground] back. A lot of things that keep the club in a healthy state for a long, long time.

"If someone helps us, that is great. The better place we are in, the more we can spend. We are not playing in the Champions League, which is a financial blow; we've improved the team anyway. It is good news; the money will be well used."

    Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp on Dominik Szoboszlai: "The boy is impressive; very smart. He is really nice too, close to everyone. He has charisma; he was so happy to come here, which is nice to see. He never played the position he is playing now, but we are learning together. It is a joy to work with him."

  8. It'll be a test for both of uspublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Tottenham v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on whether this match is the biggest test of the season so far: "It is a really tough test. I can't remember an easy game; we played at Newcastle, that was tough. Chelsea too; the away games have all been tough and home games not easy.

"Tottenham is doing really well. Ange [Postecoglou] seems to be a top bloke, I'm looking forward to meeting him. If you saw Celtic play you'd know how good a coach he is. He is delivering good football in a year when Harry Kane left. He is doing extremely well; they are exciting to watch. It'll be a test for both of us."

Throughout the day, we will continue building up to the Premier League weekend and the WSL's return.

Could Tottenham v Liverpool be the most exciting game of the season so far? Ange Postecoglou and Jurgen Klopp are both attacking-minded managers who don't seem likely to change that any time soon.

Which WSL side will surprise most, and could Chelsea retain the title again?

Jurgen Klopp gives Liverpool team news ahead of the match against Tottenham: "Trent [Alexander-Arnold] trained yesterday and will train today. We have to make a decision. It looks like he can play. Stefan [Bajcetic] has had a little setback, we have to be careful; he's got a little calf issue. Thiago is still out."

  11. Good pre-season key to strong start - Klopppublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Tottenham v Liverpool (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking in the build-up to his side's trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. He was asked whether he is surprised by how quickly his team has gelled: "Yeah. We had a good pre-season with a lot of players together, that is the main reason. That helps, definitely. Getting results in moments recently that may have gone the other way in previous years.

"Individually, their quality is good, the potential is there. The group is open for many things. This is a new start, year one for this team. We have created a basis and used it. We don't know how good we are, how stable this is, but we've had good moments."

  12. Premier League is 'more physical' - Gravenberchpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Ryan Gravenberch has spoken about the work he's been putting in with the coaching staff to get up to speed with the Premier League.

"I have to learn a little bit the system from the coach [and] what he wants from me, but when I look to the games that I played I think it goes well and we can grow on that," he said.

“I think counter-pressing is the thing that he [the manager] wants to put inside of me, inside of my head [to] directly think of it, so I think counter-pressing is the [main] thing.

"I think in England it’s more physical and the intensity is also a lot higher than where I came from.

"Also for me, like against Leicester City, they are a Championship team but of course they came from the Premier League, and you see the intensity that they are playing with. That’s the thing to adapt to, so we are working on it.

"Especially for me, last season I didn’t play so much so that’s the thing that I have to adapt with."

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch says he "feels great" after his first month with the club.

The 21-year-old, who joined Jurgen Klopp's side on transfer deadline day, has played four games for the Reds so far, registering two assists.

"I am very happy to be here and it’s now a month already, so it feels great," Gravenberch told Liverpool's official website.

"If I am honest, the team is very good with each other and they give me a warm welcome. When I need something I can ask them and they will help me with it.

"When I walked outside, you hear 'You’ll Never Walk Alone' and it feels special, you know, when you go on the pitch. It’s such a good feeling to go into the game. It’s special to be here and it gave me a good feeling as well."

Man Utd v Crystal Palace (Sat, 15:00BST)

    BBC Sport

My understanding is Manchester United took the decision to bring Antony back into their squad after he returned to the UK and attended an interview session with Greater Manchester Police on Thursday.

Given he has not been arrested, detained or charged, United feel it is appropriate for him to come back into Erik ten Hag's squad, although the club are stressing the situation remains under review.

After this weekend, they have a Champions League game against Galatasaray on Tuesday and a Premier League game against Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Manchester United have confirmed Brazilian winger Antony is to return to training, after allegations of domestic abuse werer made against him.

Antony returned to the UK from Brazil this week and has agreed to speak with Greater Manchester Police about the allegations, which he denies.

“As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed,” said United in a statement.

“This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.”

It is understood Antony will not be training on Friday and will not be considered for Saturday’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

  17. ‘We’ve got to be smart’published at 11:02 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Newcastle v Burnley (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Newcastle United

Eddie Howe on managing the schedule with so many games: “The load on those players that play every competition and international football goes up, and that’s where we’ve got to be smart sometimes by trying to give them a rest at the appropriate time, but that’s very difficult then when they’re your best players and there’s huge expectation on you to get results consistently. That’s something I’d have to think about.”

  18. Howe on intensity increase with more gamespublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 29 September 2023

Newcastle v Burnley (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Newcastle United

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe on the ‘punishing schedule’ of three games per week: “It is for us, it’s totally different to last year where we were able to go week to week, train intensely and really prepare thoroughly for each game.

“Now we’re still trying to prepare thoroughly but in a much more condensed time which is a challenge. The challenge for the players is to recover physically and mentally for each game.”

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe was also asked about the Sycamore Gap tree, which was felled this week.

He said: "I never got the chance to visit, but I'm really saddened by it. When I heard the news I was so disappointed an act can ruin something for the pleasure of everybody. It was a beautiful thing."

Newcastle v Burnley (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Newcastle United

Eddie Howe on Joelinton’s impact against Man City: "It was a really good performance [on Wednesday] from Joey. I think most of all physically because he hadn't had a huge amount of training before the game. He was desperate to get back and you could see that. He managed the whole 90 minutes which is great to see - he's a huge player for us."
