Ideally, you're taking four points from tonight and the PAOK game at home, if you're to push on and qualify.

PAOK demolished Hearts, have beaten Frankfurt, have beaten Helsinki away from home. They're the team to beat in this group and Aberdeen will need a huge performance to get three points from them.

I do think Aberdeen can take confidence and belief from this game.

I know Aberdeen are a better team than Helsinki, so it's so frustrating watching them pass up so many opportunities to win the match.

They played so well for long periods, you're willing them to win and they did enough to win but couldn't get over the line.

  3. 'Missed opportunity for wasteful hosts'published at 22:36 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

European football can be a steep learning curve - something this current crop of Aberdeen players are finding out.

There was plenty to like about their performance. It was organised, aggressive and high tempo.

But to see off teams on the continental stage you need to be clinical, a quality that was lacking from the home side.

And that is what cost the Dons as they chased a maiden victory in Group G.

HJK didn’t create many chances, but when the first one presented itself, they took it.

The Dons passed up a bucket load - the only positive being that Bojan Miovski did manage to take one of them.

This will undoubtedly feel like a missed opportunity for the Pittodrie side, who will feel they should have won the game.

  4. Has Robson turned the corner?published at 22:33 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

Barry Robson needed to get the glove to fit a few weeks ago.

He had all the components, but he didn't have the formula. He's got that formula now which works away from home and he's still getting there with the home stuff.

A few weeks ago, he was being criticised. Every manager, experienced or inexperienced, goes through difficult times. Robson has come out the other side and shown he's tactically astute and he can put a good team together.

  5. Lack of clinical edge cost us - Robsonpublished at 22:31 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    FT: Aberdeen 1-1 HJK Helsinki

Aberdeen manager Barry Robson tells TNT Sports: "I thought we controlled large spells. We had 17 shots, maybe that lack of clinical edge at the top end of the pitch cost us.

"We could've come away with three or four goals. The boys are disappointed. Small details matter at this level.

On the elbow incident on Duk: "I'm not surprised with VAR anymore. Some decisions out there I was a bit frustrated with, some things I couldn't understand. We need right decisions to go and perform, It held us back tonight."

  6. 'Dons can repair damage'published at 22:29 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    FT: Aberdeen 1-1 HJK Helsinki

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

It is a set back but at the same time I think there is enough there to repair that damage.

The two home games that they have got [against PAOK and Eintracht], I think they are more than capable of taking something from those games.

It's not easy to find a striker who can bag you 15 goals a season and also be so intelligent and influential in the build-up play.

Miovski gives you so much. I've been massively impressed with him and Aberdeen will do well to hold on to him.

  9. 'Dons will rue start of second half'published at 22:18 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    FT: Aberdeen 1-1 HJK Helsinki

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

They will be ruing the start to the second half.

It was lacklustre, it was timid, it was so unlike them.

They allowed Helsinki to completely control the game and I am sure Barry Robson will be disappointed.

  10. What's next for Aberdeen?published at 22:15 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

Their next European games include a tough double-header with PAOK.

  11. Opportunity missed for Aberdeen - Miovskipublished at 22:12 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    FT: Aberdeen 1-1 HJK Helsinki

Instant reaction from Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski, who tells TNT Sports: "It was a long first half, a lot of breaks, but second half we played much better. We're disappointed because we felt we could get three points.

"After my goal, I felt like we had them. Duk's chance after my goal was a key moment. He missed but it's okay.

"We will analyse the game and we'll look forward."

    Aberdeen 1-1 HJK Helsinki

Barry Robson cuts a frustrated figure as the full-time whistle blows.

He knows this was a big chance for his side, but they'll have to settle for a point after Bojan Miovski's header cancelled out Bojan Radulovic's fine opener.

Both sides end matchday two with one point.

Potentially one last chance for HJK as they have a throw in deep in the Dons half.

They go short with it then the flag goes up. They seem content with a point.
