  1. 'That's the difference'published at 21:32 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    Aberdeen 0-1 HJK Helsinki

    Rory Loy
Former Dundee & St Mirren forward on BBC Sportsound

What a finish that is. Radulovic looks like a penalty box striker. Not involved in this game at all. One chance. Boom. Goal.

Duk's had opportunities, Miovski has had one. That is the difference. When Aberdeen were on top they had to score.

  2. 'Tough task for the Dons'published at 21:31 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    Aberdeen 0-1 HJK Helsinki

    Stephen Craigan
Former Motherwell captain on TNT Sports

Based on the second-half performance. HJK deserve to be ahead.

If Aberdeen thought they had a tough task at 0-0, things have just got even tougher.

Do they have it in them?

  3. goal

GOAL! Aberdeen 0-1 HJK Helsinkipublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    Bojan Radulovic

    The HJK Bojan hits first.

And it's a fine finish as he bends one high into the far corner after a pass finds him just inside the box.

Ten goals in as many games, 23 for the season.

Jamie McGrath looks to send through Duk, who is thwarted by the onrushing HJK keeper.

Flag was up anyway. Would've been tight.

Helsinki are really starting to grow in to this game, one which they are starting to get a bit of a grip on.

Aberdeen have so far lacked the energy and tempo they had for spells in the first half. Barry Robson will be hoping the introduction of Connor Barron from the bench can change all of that.

Helsinki have been quite passive in the final third but they they're starting to show they have quality up there.

Barry Robson maybe needs to do something to turn the tide here.

What a ball that is from Tuomas Ollila, who sends one low to the back post.

    No-one is there though.

    Aberdeen 0-0 HJK Helsinki

An endless spell of HJK possession ends with Pyry Soiri coming in off the right before blasting over.

The visitors are really dominating the ball at present.

    Aberdeen 0-0 HJK Helsinki

    Rory Loy

As the game goes on, it's two sides that don't want to lose rather than giving their all to win it.

They both know the importance of this game.

Half decent chance for Jamie McGrath.

But he snatches at it and blasts over from the left of the box.

Hate to be that guy, but this game isn't for sparking into life.

    Someone do something. Cheers.

There's a change for HJK as Joona Toivo is replaced by Kristopher de Graca.

Aberdeen keep the same team despite the sore ones for Duk and Jensen.

  13. 'Aberdeen need to win ugly'published at 21:16 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    Aberdeen 0-0 HJK Helsinki

    Rory Loy
Former Dundee & St Mirren forward on BBC Sportsound

I don't think it needs to be pretty from Aberdeen. Of course, you want to play free-flowing football on the European stage and show yourself in a good light - but every fan in this stadium would bite your hand off for a 1-0 win.

Aberdeen are capable of having a go at qualifying from this group and I don't care about how the three points come about.

  14. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    Aberdeen 0-0 HJK Helsinki

    For the last time tonight...

An improvement on the first half is all we ask for, please.

  15. Aberdeen 'must show more'published at 21:12 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    HT: Aberdeen 0-0 HJK Helsinki

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

The stoppages have disrupted the flow of the game. Aberdeen were on top before the head knocks and they've had to reorganise and play for a good 10 minutes with 10 men.

It also gave Helsinki a lift because they enjoyed a spell of possession. It took the impetus out of Aberdeen. They have to find that energy again in the second half. They have to show more creativity, especially in open play, to win this game.

We always find a Scottish connection.

HJK substitute Niko Hamalainen played 28 times for Kilmarnock back in 2019-20, becoming a popular figure with the Rugby Park faithful with his performances at left-back.

He's also played for both LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC. Is that controversial? Nae clue.

Maybe we'll see him in the second half.

    Everyone on two games played.

    Everyone on zero goal difference.

    Everyone on three points.

    Beautiful.

  18. 'Nowhere near good enough for Rangers'published at 21:07 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    FT: Aris Limassol 2-1 Rangers

    Steven Thompson
Former Rangers striker on BBC Sportsound

Aris Limassol aren't a top European side. They didn't have to do too much to win against a very poor Rangers team.

It's not good enough, plain and simple. It's a team devoid of confidence. To play for Rangers it takes leaders, big characters, players that roll their sleeves up and lead from the front.

Not one of those players took that responsibility. They looked to each other for help. Too many players way below par with their performances.

They needed a reaction. These players have again fallen short of the acceptable standards at Rangers.

For any potential incoming manager, it'll be very difficult to get something out of this team. They don't look like a side that can win games. They're fragile, lacking confidence and creativity.

  19. Really difficult night - Davispublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 5 October 2023

    FT: Aris Limassol 2-1 Rangers

Rangers caretaker manager Steven Davis: "Really difficult night because we felt there was a real opportunity to come here and build on the Betis game.

"I think we caused a lot of our own problems - obviously the two goals we give away we're really disappointed with and when that happens it gives you a mountain to climb.

"I've got to take some responsibility. The first half we kept trying to play in the middle of the pitch which wasn't really on, they counter-attacked from that and they were good in transitions with the pace they had up front.

"We didn't do enough to take something from the game but in terms of the effort of the players, I thought they kept going to the end and I couldn't have asked any more of them in that respect.

"The energy to keep going, everyone was trying to do the right things. There wasn't a lack of effort but it's a really difficult moment that everyone's in and when that happens maybe you start to make the wrong decisions.

"It's a really quick turnaround and it's important that we stick together.
