Right, are the nerves ready for this? You imagine Scotland are in for a tough second half. We could be watching through gaps in our fingers.

Here we go for the second half...

No changes for Scotland, who lost Andy Robertson to a shoulder injury late in the first half.

Spain are bringing on Bryan Zaragoza and Fran Garcia.

  5. 'More of the same from Spain'published at 20:49 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    HT: Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Guillem Balague
    Spanish football journalist on Viaplay

Coming out of the blocks, that's what Spain were supposed to do. Ferran Torres should have scored.

The half-time message will be more of the same. Substitutions will be key.

  6. 'Defensive operation going well so far'published at 20:48 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    HT: Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

Scotland have shown nothing in an attacking sense, but does it matter?

If this finishes goalless, it's fabulous. If it goes into the last 10 minutes and Spain get nervous, maybe opportunities will arise for Scotland.

It's been a defensive operation so far and the operation has gone well.

  7. 'Close shaves, a big injury blow and lots of boos'published at 20:46 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    HT: Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Jane Lewis
    BBC Scotland in Seville

How's your luck Scotland? My goodness Steve Clarke's side were let off the hook on several occasions - and we'll take that!

The loss of Andy Roberson is a sore one though, hopefully it doesn't prove significant.

Booing was also a mainstay of the half. The Tartan Army booed Rodri's every touch of the ball, the Spanish fans then used the same method as they made their feelings clear when the visiting fans decided against joining in the Mexican wave.

  8. 'Backs against the wall'published at 20:43 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    HT: Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Alan Hutton
    Former Scotland defender on Viaplay

    Scotland have been very fortunate.

My heart's been in my mouth, they've rode their luck at times, but we knew that'd be the case.

They need some more time on the ball to get some breathing space.

They've not troubled the goalkeeper at all, it's been backs against the wall for most of the half.

  9. 'Scotland hold firm - with a slice of fortune'published at 20:39 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    HT: Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Scott Mullen
BBC Scotland at Estadio Olimpico de la Cartuja

    Enjoy that? Me neither.

The boom of noise which met that early miss from Feran Torres set the bar for a cacophony that greeted each chance the Spanish have passed up.

Steve Clarke has looked a lonely soul at the edge of the world’s biggest technical area. His team have held firm, but my word, they’ve had to ride their luck.

The Tartan Army have given their team a heroic cheer walking off after a long, long first half. You get the feeling the second half could be even more nerve shredding.

  10. HALF-TIME Spain 0-0 Scotlandpublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

And breathe... That was a long 49 minutes for Scotland, under the cosh for the vast majority of time.

A point is enough for Scotland to seal qualification but can they hold out under this kind of pressure?

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

Mikel Merino with an ugly hack on Scott McTominay... A touch of frustration in that challenge.

Oops, Nathan Patterson is caught out trying to usher the ball out of play but Ryan Porteous is over in a flash to snuff out the danger.

  13. 'Tierney & Robertson leave big gap'published at 20:34 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Steven Thompson
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

We've got two superstar left-backs, now both of them are injured.

Patterson and Hickey are great replacements, but they don't have the same big-game experience.

  14. Half-time in Larnacapublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    HT: Cyprus 0-1 Norway

Norway lead Cyrpus at the break in Larnaca courtesy of Alexander Sorloth's deflected strike.

It doesn't matter to Scotland right now, but if they fall behind that all changes.

  15. Postpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

Now Callum McGregor is down after a bang on the head. He's up again pretty quickly and he'll soldier on.

Scotland need the half-time whistle, which is four added minutes away.

  16. Patterson on for Robertsonpublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

Oh, that is a blow for Scotland.

Andy Robertson can't possibly go on and Nathan Patterson is his replacement.

That means shifting Aaron Hickey to the left and he's been doing a brilliant job on the right.

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

If the goalkeeper gets the ball, he can take everything else with him and Unai Simon has done just that.

Andy Robertson took a big, big hit there.

Andy Robertson is cleaned out by Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon and it appears he's done some damage to his shoulder.
