    Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

A very good couple of minutes for Scotland. It's like Steve Clarke said, you can't sit in your half and defend for the whole game.

Scotland come down the left this time as Andrew Robertson feeds Ryan Christie but the Bournemouth forward scuffs his cross.

  6. 'Scots should take confidence from that'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Steven Thompson
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

Aaron Hickey does ever so well there, fighting off the challenge then the pass to Lyndon Dykes.

It's positive that we've managed to get into their final third in open play.

We should take confidence from that.

  7. Postpublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

Scotland get forward for the first time and it looks like a cross from Lyndon Dykes is going to fall for Scott McTominay as players lunge in. It doesn't quite work out that way and the ref dreams up a foul from somewhere.

  8. 'Another huge let-off'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Steven Thompson
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

We were expecting a strong Spain start.

We need a wee bit of luck tonight, we've already had a huge slice of that.

    That's another huge let-off.

It's a very poor miss. You've got to get it on target. It's bobbling a little bit if you're going to give Torres some sort of excuse.

But the ease with which they got through that Scottish midfield and defence. Nobody got near it.

  12. 'A sitter'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

    Spain 0-0 Scotland

    Michael Stewart
    Former Scotland midfielder on Viaplay

That's a sitter from Ferran Torres.

    Spain should be 1-0 up.

  13. CLOSE!published at 19:49 British Summer Time 12 October 2023

Ooft! The Scottish defence is sliced open by a smart Alvaro Morata pass and Feran Torres only has Angus Gunn to beat.

    He shoots just wide.

    Spain v Scotland (19:45)

    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC 5 Live

Steve Clarke can do whatever he wants because everyone believes in him.

The players and the fans are fully behind him and what he's doing.

He's built that, he's had to work hard at it and he deserves everything that's coming, because he and his players have brought belief back to Scotland as a nation.

    Spain v Scotland (19:45)

    Jane Lewis
    BBC Scotland in Seville

The Estadio La Cartuja is far from a full house, which is quite surprising considering what's a stake for Spain. There are empty seats in sizable sections around the stadium.

That isn't affecting the noise levels though. It's quite the atmosphere...
