  1. 'We need points to start building something'published at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "With the goal you could see the belief of everyone, fighting for that ball. Everyone was fighting and at the end I could get the shot for the goal and the three points.

"It's really important, we know the position we are in. We need to get results, it was massively important for us to get the three points today.

"We need to get points to start building something, we have to start somewhere because we've got big games coming."

On Harry Maguire: "He was good, he was important for us today with the long balls. But we also need to give credit to Jonny [Evans] as well and Rafael [Varane] when he came on, he was ready to fight for the team.

"Everyone has been important, I don't want to focus too much on one player but everyone has been too critical of Harry and he's doing really well now. I hope he can stay at this level."

On Champions League: "Every game is important now. We know we have to win that game [at Copenhagen] to get through the group. We have to show the same passion and quality that we showed today.

"I know we have even more than we showed today."

    Burnley 0-0 Crystal Palace

Burnley win an early corner but it's easily dealt with by the Palace defenders.

The ball trickles out to Josh Brownhill who chips in a lovely ball to find the unmarked Zeki Amdouni in the box, but the attacking midfielder heads just wide.

    Top start for the hosts.

  4. Postpublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

    Man City 0-0 Bournemouth

Bournemouth have never beaten Manchester City in 19 competitive meetings, winning the last 13.

Bit ominous for the Cherries and it is City dominating the ball in these early stages, as you would expect.

  5. Postpublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

Brighton made a very late change to their bench with Jack Hinshelwood replacing Tariq Lamptey, who had been an injury doubt earlier this week.

This is the last Premier League home game Manchester City play before Remembrance Day, so respective managers Pep Guardiola and Andoni Iraola laid wreaths before the Last Post was played ahead of kick-off.

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at Goodison Park

There are two very, very different styles going up against each other today.

Brighton with their possession-based, free flowing game, they will be looking to attack and play positively.

Everton are capable of playing more expansively but they will want to be more direct, play a higher tempo and get it forward quickly. Not the most sophisticated style but it is effective and has worked recently for Sean Dyche's men. The feel good factor is coming back.

  9. 'We lost emotional control'published at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Man Utd

    Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva, speaking to TNT Sports: "Frustration in our dressing room. Very good second half from ourselves. First half was more balanced. Second half we had very good spells and had 20-25 minutes where we controlled the game.

"It is not unlucky it is keeping emotional control on the pitch. Three or four players making mistakes is difficult to understand for us. We have to grow as a team.

"It is clear emotional control we lost in that moment."

On Rodrigo Muniz injury: "Let's hope it is nothing serious. I don't have all the details right now and we will assess him but he is feeling a lot of pain.

"He is ready to fight for the position, let's hope nothing serious as we need him."

  10. 'Unusual sticky patch for Brighton'published at 14:58 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

    Everton v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at Goodison Park

It's unusual for Brighton to be in this sticky patch.

They had that great start, and of course everyone was speaking so highly of them last season. But when you chop and change the side so much, even though they will play in the exact same way regardless of personnel, you almost don't know where you stand with them.

It must confuse certain managers and players they come up against.

As long as it works then you're ok. It is a classic one where if you make changes and it pays off then you're a good manager, but if you ring in the changes and it doesn't work then you don't know your best team!

  11. Lovely touch from Kyle Walkerpublished at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

Man City v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

Manchester City skipper Kyle Walker has just brought a mascot out in a wheelchair.

It is a bit chilly at the Etihad Stadium so Walker took off his track suit top and put it over the mascot to keep him warm.

    Such a thoughtful gesture.

  12. 'A little bit of patience needed'published at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

Burnley v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on Final Score

Burnley have got a good chance this afternoon. They have had a tough run of fixtures and a lot of people are questioning Vincent Kompany and his tactics at the moment, but for me they are still within touching distance of the pack. They wouldn't have expected to be in any other position, I don't think, and it is just a little bit of patience needed I think.

  13. 'It's a building block'published at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, speaking to TNT Sports: "It shouldn't just be this game, we can't get carried away, but when things are going against you, sometimes you have to come together and fight like dogs.

"It's a building block and I think we did more than enough to win the game in the end.

"We saw the banner before the game and the fans pay good money to come and see us, the support is relentless every single week and we just want to repay them as best we can.

"It's step by step, with the manager and the coaching staff, we trust them a lot, we trust the players and I feel like we can go on, kick on and do better.

"You have to pick each other up when things aren't going well. You need confidence, some need to feel like they're loved, others need a rocket sometimes.

"Everyone reacts different and with the captain and the other senior player, I feel like we've got people who know the dressing room well and can bring everyone together to do better."

One point from their first 10 games means Sheffield United are on course to be the worst ever Premier League team.

I just hope they make it to 12 points so they don't take that mantle off Robbie Savage's Derby County team, who managed 11 points in 2007-08.

Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom said last week that he was looking forward to the challenge of playing Arsenal, but I didn't believe a word of it and I am not sure he did either.

They are absolutely desperate for their first win of the season but they are up against a Wolves side who have found a bit of form. I'm really enjoying the way Gary O'Neil side is playing and they are a team on the up.

Wolves' only issue is that they are without Pedro Neto, who is out with a hamstring injury. He has been their main attacking threat, but I still think they will find a way to win at Bramall Lane without him.

    Sutton's prediction: 0-1

  15. 'We have to be more ruthless'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Man Utd

    Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva, speaking to MOTD: "It is difficult to believe but the reality is it did happen again against us. It is something we clearly have to sort out, we have to keep the emotional control to the end of the match.

"It was a very good game from ourselves. A balanced game but we had a very good second half.

"You have to be clear on the game until the last minute.

"We have to be more assertive and much more ruthless in these types of moments because we had clear chances to score. They had one dangerous cross in the second half, after that they didn't have anything.

"We played well, we put them under pressure, we were on the front foot. Our second half performance was a very good level but we go with this feeling again where we played well but didn't get anything from the game."

On Rodrigo Muniz injury: "He had a very good game. He is a boy that is growing. He is showing to me he is ready to fight for the position. The way he holds the ball, the way he connects, he will help us and I hope the injury is not too serious."

  16. 'Lucky' Peppublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

Man City v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

It is unfathomable given his record but some critics claims Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a lucky manager, because he is judged from his status as manager of three of the world's biggest and most successful clubs.

In his programme notes today, Guardiola agrees - kind of.

"We have maintained our consistency for many years," he said.

"Honestly, nothing makes me more proud. The biggest title we have is this one.

"I see the professionalism, the mentality and the solidarity. I could not be prouder of my players. I am a very lucky guy to be their manager."

Whenever West Ham lose a couple of games, you hear the usual rumblings from the same old people, asking if manager David Moyes should still be in the job.

It drives me potty. Moyes has done brilliantly and a spell of poor form doesn't change that.

Brentford went through a bit of a sticky patch themselves recently, with four defeats in seven games, but they are flying at the moment.

The Bees got a big win against Chelsea last week and, as I've said before, they are so well balanced and well organised.

I was tempted to go for another draw here, but I am actually going to go for Brentford to edge it.

They beat the Hammers 2-0 home and away in the league last year, so I have picked the same scoreline again.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-0

  18. 'It's about experience & energy'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

Burnley v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Burnley

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany speaking to Final Score about Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson: "It's one thing being experienced but you have to have energy as well.

"I think to be managing in the Premier League for so many years, that is what his team is [all about].

"From our side, it is never an easy game, but we are home and hoping for all three points."

There's an unfamiliar feeling around Goodison Park, five wins from the last seven games has brought much-needed positivity to surroundings.

Sean Dyche looks to have turned the side's fortunes around after a shaky start, but as the manager told me after Wednesday's Carabao Cup win over Burnley that "there is progress".

The Toffees are full of confidence after that 3-0 victory and face a Brighton side that have now won in the last four games.

It remains to be seen, though, how much of a miss the excellent Amadou Onana will be, with the Belgium international out because of a tight calf injury.

  20. 'Biggest chances were always on our side'published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, speaking to TNT Sports: "Everyone knows the situation is not the best, we lost the last two games and it wasn't the performances we wanted to give or the results but today it was a different game.

"We had to give something different and we delivered. We got the three points and that's the most important thing.

"It's about the team what everyone does on the pitch. Everyone has to sacrifice, run, work harder. Even on the goal, you could see everyone working hard to get the ball and that's what makes the goal.

"It was a good performance. We could create more chances but we still had good chances. First half, we had control of the game, second half was amore divided game but I think the biggest chances were always on our side and I think we deserved the win.

"It has to build confidence but we have to understand that we can still do more. Understand now that it is about getting results every time we play.

"Champions League is important for us to get three points. Difficult game away this week but we are Man Utd and we have to win every game."
