Good start to the game.

Two teams that have got a lot of respect for each other that are just sounding one another out at the minute. There are a few nerves around.

Newcastle have to win this game tonight in my opinion, Arsenal will be happy with a point, but if Newcastle want to consolidate their place in the top four they need three points.

England boss Gareth Southgate is getting a feel of the St James' Park atmosphere up close as he is in the stands for this game.

Joelinton is caught by a heavy challenge but he's okay to continue after a bit of treatment.

Newcastle are focusing all their attacks so far down Arsenal's left and good work by Miguel Almiron sees him speed away from Takehiro Tomiyasu, who does manage to get back but ends up poking the ball to Sean Longstaff, whose delivery into the box is punched away.

With Newcastle they always come out of the blocks very, very quick. They show a lot of energy in the first half hour of games here at home

"What surprised me the most is how we knew his one on ability but how clever he is when he has to take a decision, it's really good. Sometimes he attracts one two or three layers and his decision is really good to take the extra pass.

"I have a feeling he understands everything so we say some comments, maybe you should do this and reflect and he says yes and applies immediately. He understands the game really well. He is incredible threat, so aggressive close to the box so good there. I don't want to change the skills that he is but so far every game he has played he has played well especially here at home."

Erling Haaland injury: "He twisted the ankle. Hopefully not a big issue. We'll see in the next hours and days."

On conceding the goal: "It happens. Football is not perfection. We made a mistake, we will correct."

On ambition of the team: "This team surprise me a lot. After 11 games we are close, we will see after another weekend. Top of the league, Champions League we have done what we need to do. Jeremy Doku was the difference he was a real bright spark for Manchester City. He played off both sides. He obviously got his goal and assisted four. Every time he got the ball you felt like something was going to happen for Manchester City. His end product was the most impressive thing. There has been times he has been a little erratic in the final third with his decision making but he wasn't this afternoon. He was probably the best player on the pitch for Manchester City, along with Bernardo Silva.

With this Newcastle's final Premier League home game before Remembrance Sunday, we've just had a minute's silence before the game gets under way.

"We didn't expect the way they played with five at the back. We scored in the right moments, second half they started better than us. Man to man they were aggressive, when a team is losing 3-0 and they go to man to man and go for it I have a lot of respect for that."

On Jeremy Doku: "He's settled so quick. It's not just today all the games he played he's played really good. We are really pleased.

On Bernardo Silva: "He is an extraordinary player, he made two great goals. The action from the second goal looks like Messi, Messi has done that many times. Everyone is so happy to have him here."

On Erling Haaland injury: "Twist in the ankle, we didn't want to take risks with him he didn't feel comfortable. He'll be back maybe Tuesday but maybe next Sunday."

Arsenal have won 19 of their last 22 matches against Newcastle in all competitions.

Newcastle have failed to score in eight of the nine most recent league meetings, with the exception a 2-0 home victory in May 2022.

Arsenal have kept 30 Premier League clean sheets against Newcastle, the most one side has kept against another in the competition's history.

It is going to be a tough game for Arsenal but I feel like they are doing well at the moment and what a great position to be in if they can get the win and go top of the league.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to BBC Match of the Day: "That second goal is the sort of goal that when you are pushing and trying as hard as Burnley did throughout the game, causing us problems and getting into our area, breakaways like that happen and it skews the scorline really.

"It was more of a 1-0 victory which would have come about through some excellent defending and through some very diligent and disciplined work.

"But 2-0 flatters us a bit and was very harsh on Burnley who I thought played well. It's very surprising that a team capable of applying that sort of pressure on an opponent is struggling to get those points. If they carry on playing they did today, I am certain those points will come.

"Our back four were very good, particularly those two centre-backs."

On Palace's second goal: "It was a breakaway that was on. Eberechi Eze had the composure to look up and see Tyreek Mitchell coming. It's nice for Tyreek to score that goal but as I say I feel sorry for Burnley in some respects.

"It doesn't really feel like a 2-0 game from our point of view. To be fair it didn't need to be, it needed to be a victory and that's what we got."

Matty: I've not got good vibes ahead of this game. Loud crowd, high press. Not sure that suits the players we have available today. Ødegaard not being 'fit' for the match with no listed injury is a concern. But let's do this!

It's going to be a long, tough season for Sheffield United. They are going to be in and around the relegation spots but it is about keeping their nerve. They have ran this course before, they know what it is about and hopefully that experience can see them through.
