It was a great sweeping ball from Christie toward the box, just cut through the Newcastle back line.

Semenyo just breaks the offside trap but his touch lets him down again.

How many chances and openings are Bournemouth going to pass by without making them count before they are punished?

Sulaimon: The only club in the world that needs the international break at the moment is Newcastle, so many injuries combined with the suspension of Bruno and the ban of Tonali. A coach's nightmare.

    Big opportunity for Bournemouth!

Ryan Christie plays a brilliant ball into the box for Antoine Semenyo, who is onside and just needs to control it to have a clear shot at goal from just yards out, but he misses the ball.

A quick counter by Newcastle with Anthony Gordon away down the left. He sends in a low cross that is cleared by Marcus Tavernier.

I haven't seen too much of Bournemouth this season but based on this game they do play some really nice football. They've been the better side so far in this game.

Andoni Iraola will want to see more from Kluivert and Semenyo. They started the game brightly but their energy has somewhat fizzled out.

Newcastle, even when below strength, know how to battle and make it difficult for sides to beat them.

Bournemouth need to find that creative spark.

  7. CLOSE!published at 38 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Lovely football by Bournemouth that almost results in the opener as Dominic Solanke holds the ball up inside the box before backheeling superbly into Antoine Semenyo's path but he places his finish just wide of the far post.

  8. 'Newcastle missing Bruno'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2023

    Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The stats show how important Bruno Guimaraes is to Newcastle.

They are winless in six games without him since his debut in 2022, and judging by what we have seen so far today, it could well become seven.

Anthony Rhodes: How is there no VAR check on that shirt pull on Almiron? Blatant foul and stopped him potentially getting past him and through on goal...

    Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

    Glenn Murray

I was just watching as the corner was taken and the six yard box was absolutely packed.

Still Pope manages to position himself so he can see the shot from Christie on the edge of the box, and gets a solid punch away from danger.

Good save from the Newcastle keeper.

Another really good save by Nick Pope who somehow sees enough through a crowded box to push away Ryan Christie's strike.

And that change happens now with former Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie on for his third appearance of the season, replacing the injured Miguel Almiron.

Eddie Howe must have his heart in his mouth every time a Newcastle player goes down.

Now Miguel Almiron seems to be struggling with an issue.

    That was extremely tight.

I think if you draw a line between the ball and the eighteen yard box Pope would have been just on the line there, a very close call.

You have to say with him getting it just right there, it's good goalkeeping, great commanding of his box.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 29 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Good work by Miguel Almiron to flick the ball onto Lloyd Kelly's shin and win a corner for Newcastle.

Kieran Trippier plays it short to Joe Willock, who pings the ball to the back post and Jamaal Lascelles' header is superbly saved by Neto, but the flag goes up for offside.

Does Nick Pope catch the ball outside the box? The Bournemouth fans closest to him think so but it doesn't look the case to me on the replay.

Anthony Gordon has struggled to get into the game so far, having had just nine touches of the ball - the joint fewest of anyone on the pitch.
