Oh Kieran Trippier sells Nick Pope short with a back pass and Dominic Solanke is onto it. The forward tries to round Pope but his touch is poor and the ball goes out of play.

    A lucky escape for Newcastle.

I just wonder if that Newcastle half time switch is another injury, as Lewis Hall didn't look like he did much wrong in that first half?

Tino Livramento is a like for like replacement, he's done well in the appearances he has made for the side so far, positive going forward, may offer more attacking energy on that left hand side.

And it is Lewis Hall who Tino Livramento replaces.

  6. 'Amazing feeling'published at 18:35 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2023

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Burnley

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Oleksandr Zinchenko to BBC Sport: "Happy to get the three points. It was very important. We knew how good they are, organised well defensively.

"We know how Vincent Kompany tries to play his football. We knew they would sit so deep but we tried to generate as much as we can.

"So happy to score my first goal at Emirates. Amazing feeling. I really try to give my best every single game.

"The manager said to us before the game we need to be ready for every single ball.

"This is the right way. I think we have the right reaction to the mistakes we’ve done."

  7. 'Clear signs of a winning mentality'published at 18:35 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2023

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-3 Everton

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche to BBC Match of the Day: "I'm very pleased, it was a different kind of performance. I think we've played better than that and not won games. Now we're finding that winning mentality, the grit, the determination, some of the details, the energy, the work ethic, that's the glue that holds a team together in my belief. And that's coming.

"We have quality, we have showed that this season. the mentality to come back again is very pleasing.

"It's our responsibility to change our story. I've spoken honestly about that over the last couple of seasons. We're beginning to do that. There's a long way to go but there are clear signs of that winning mentality that I believe in. The fans are beginning to understand. We do have quality but you've got to find ways of winning in the Premier League and we're doing that.

"It's early days still. Mentalities have to be built over a long period of time and we're getting there."

  8. 'The whole world can see we are competing'published at 18:34 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2023

    FT: Man Utd 1-0 Luton

    Luton Town

Luton manager Rob Edwards, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "They [my players] gave absolutely everything. They [Man United] dominated the game in those opening stages, which we kind of knew would happen. But I thought we grew into the half and there was a big chance for Carlton Morris. We rode our luck once or twice but when you come to Old Trafford you are going to have to do that. Most teams will. Getting in at half time at 0-0 was crucial and then I look at the second half and I am just so proud of the players. We showed bravery with the ball and had almost half the possession. For Luton Town to come to Old Trafford and do that shows progression. The disappointment is how we conceded - second or third phase from a free-kick. And then creating chances and speeding the game up in those moments was difficult for us in the second half.

"We had more of the ball in the second half than we did against Liverpool. We have controlled the game. It allowed them to get more men behind the ball and for us to speed it up in the right moments. A lot of our attacks against Liverpool were in transition. The biggest chance was in the first half, from a faster attack, with Carlton's header.

"I can see us building and progressing with my own eyes. It is one thing coming to Old Trafford and being fearless but ultimately it is about getting points. The return we have at the moment isn't enough after 10 games. Everyone in the world can now see that we are competing. We now have to find a way to get something when maybe we don't quite deserve it. We are a little bit flat. I am so proud of them and the supporters applaud us. But today it was an opportunity to get something and we haven't done. We have had three tough away games recently and we have learned. We will keep doing the things that keep us in games and build on that."

  10. 'Very frustrating and saddening'published at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2023

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-3 Everton

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to BBC Match of the Day: "It was frustrating because we conceded so early in the first half and then we did well I thought to get that equaliser. At half-time we were really confident that we could go out and continue in the way that we have been playing.

"But we conceded yet again after a couple of minutes. I thought it was a really good effort then, and we played well then, to make it 2-2. That would have been a good result on the day having been behind twice.

"So to concede a third goal is of course very frustrating and saddening because it leaves me feeling like we could and should have done better today to hold on to the point we had."

On Eberechi Eze being booked for diving: "He shouldn't have been booked for simulation. I did say to Anthony Taylor I couldn't see exactly if it was a penalty or not a penalty from where I was standing. But I do know Eze, that when he gets in those situations to create a chance, it doesn't go through his head to throw himself down in the hope of getting a penalty.

"It might have been a collision and no penalty, I'd have accepted that. But to get a yellow card was not right. It suggest he's a cheat which he absolutely is not. But I couldn't see from the touchline if it was a foul or not.

"You shouldn't be looking for positives if you lose 3-2 at home to a team who for a large period we had the measure of. Certainly in the second half we had a lot of the ball and were looking quite dangerous. Really that should have been enough to make me a lot happier a person than I am today."

  11. 'We looked a threat every time'published at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2023

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Burnley

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to BBC Sport: "Very happy with the performance. The way the team dominated the game. We fully deserved to win the game.

"Especially against organised teams, we're provoking, they were defending really deep. We generated a lot today and looked a threat every time."

On scoring so soon after the equaliser: "Momentum was perfect. The team reacted straight away, the timing was perfect.

"We are the team who generate the most [set-piece goals]. If a team want to defend 20 metres, that has to be an asset.

"Zinchenko was brilliant today, attacking and defending. He showed great determination."

On Trossard scoring Arsenal's 1,000th goal at the Emirates: "A special one because he put his body on the line and now his name will be on the beautiful number. A beautiful moment.

"The refereeing was perfect. Don't just ask me when [things go against them]. VAR was top."

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed he must now serve a one-match ban after being booked in today’s game against Luton.

Ten Hag was cautioned in stoppage time for questioning a throw-in.

Asked in his post-match press conference if that was his third booking and he must now sit in the stands for United’s game at Everton in a fortnight, he said: “I think so.”

The Premier League have now confirmed.

Edward Taylor: The current Newcastle injury problem is nowhere near as bad as the injury crisis Man Utd has suffered from all season. Why are injuries a legitimate excuse when Newcastle struggle, yet Man Utd are seen as a 'club in crisis / manager on the verge of the sack'?
