  1. 'City shipping goals but I'd still back them to score more'published at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

For this week's midweek predictions, Chris Sutton takes on CBeebies presenter Rhys Stephenson.

It has been surprising to see Manchester City conceding so many goals recently - they have shipped 10 in their past four games - and I do think Villa will score here, but I'd still back Pep Guardiola's side to score more.

It's a blow for City to be without suspended duo Rodri and Jack Grealish, but I am certainly not going to start doubting them.

They might be playing with a bit of anger after feeling wronged by the decision not to let them play an advantage right at the end of Sunday's draw with Tottenham, even if I do think too much was made out of that incident.

The referee was wrong to stop play, but I think the Spurs defence would have caught Grealish anyway.

    Sutton's prediction:1-2

Villa have been awesome at home and I think they will really push City here.

    Rhys' prediction: 2-2

  2. goal

GOAL - Fulham 1-0 Nottingham Forestpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Alex Iwobi (30 mins)

Fulham deservedly take the lead through a clinical counter.

The ball is eventually shipped out to Willian who lifts his head up, cuts inside, and delivers in an inch-perfect cross for Alex Iwobi who side-foots the ball into the bottom corner.

    Craven Cottage is bouncing.

  3. Local boy Cole Palmer's Old Trafford bowpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

Man Utd v Chelsea (20:15 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Chelsea striker Cole Palmer was brought up less than 10 miles from Old Trafford in Wythenshawe.

Tonight Palmer plays here for the first time.

His previous outing against Manchester United was for Manchester City in the 6-3 win at the Etihad Stadium last season.

Palmer was a late substitute on that occasion. Tonight he starts as Chelsea's £40m summer signing.

His last goal was the stoppage time penalty that earned Chelsea a 4-4 draw against Manchester City in November.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Bournemouth

More bad news for Crystal Palace as full-back Tyrick Mitchell very slowly limps off inside the opening 30 minutes, with Nathaniel Clyne replacing him.

  5. Postpublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Sheffield United 0-0 Liverpool

A mix-up in the Sheffield United box as keeper Wes Foderingham spills a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner.

But his defenders rescue him, hacking the ball clear.

  6. Postpublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Bournemouth

Jordan Ayew nearly grabs an instant equaliser, with Neto doing well to keep out the strike. Excellent defending then from Illia Zabarnyi, throwing himself in front of the ball to block Odsonne Edouard's goalbound rebound attempt.

  7. HITS THE WOODWORK - FULHAMpublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Fulham 0-0 Nottingham Forest

The closest we've come at Craven Cottage!

Fulham's Andreas Pereira wins and takes a free-kick on the edge of the box, curling it to the keeper's corner. His shot beats the wall, it beats Forest stopper Odysseas Vlachodimos, and ends up clattering into the post.

Pereira has his head in his hands. Inches away.

GOAL - Brighton 0-1 Brentfordpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Bryan Mbeumo (27 mins)

In-form Bryan Mbeumo does a little jump before rolling the ball into the bottom corner after the keeper went the wrong way. Brentford lead.

  11. 'Everything they've had thrown at them so far, they've dealt with well'published at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Sheffield United 0-0 Liverpool

    Alex Bruce
Former Hull defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Chris Wilder will be really happy. They've had a lot of good chances. They've defended their box well. Everything they've had thrown at them so far, they've dealt with well.

  12. Postpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Sheffield United 0-0 Liverpool

You feel like Liverpool are really building up some steam now. They've had almost 80% of possession.

Ibrahima Konate has their latest chance, meeting a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner, but his header is easily saved by Wes Foderingham.

  13. goal

GOAL - Crystal Palace 0-1 Bournemouthpublished at 25 mins

    Marcos Senesi

The first goal of the night comes from the visitors at Selhurst Park.

Bournemouth get a corner from the right, Luis Sinisterra flicks it on and, with Palace's Jeffrey Schlupp playing everyone onside, Marcos Senesi is there to score with a close-range diving header.

Man Utd v Chelsea (20:15 GMT)

Manchester United are unbeaten in 11 league games against Chelsea since losing 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in November 2017 (W4, D7).

The Blues' last Premier League win at Old Trafford was 1-0 in May 2013. They have drawn six and lost four since.

There have been 26 Premier League draws between these sides, the highest total of any fixture in the competition's history.

  15. Postpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Brighton 0-0 Brentford

Brighton's Simon Adingra half-volleys high and wide from Billy Gilmour's corner.

  16. Postpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Bournemouth

It started well, but it's gone a bit flat at Selhurst Park. Michael Olise stands over a free-kick 35 yards out, but the ball to the far post is far too close to the goalkeeper and Neto easily gathers.

Paul: I love Konate but he does get drawn into some bad positions by fast players far too much for my liking.

Joe Gomez a liability one on one as usual. Can’t read the game and can’t win his duels. Maybe the weakest defender in the league.

Mark Flekken is OK to continue after being treated.

  19. Postpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

Better from Fulham who ship the ball in to Raul Jimenez in the left channel. He stands up his defender, knocks the ball past him and fires a shot straight at Forest keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.

  20. Postpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

Brentford keeper Mark Flekken is getting treatment, it seems to be his ankle or that area anyway.
