    Everton v Chelsea

Everton make just one change to the side that beat Newcastle on Thursday with James Garner coming in for Seamus Coleman, who went off with a knee issue after making his first appearance since May.

Jordan Pickford is fit to start after hobbling through the final stages of that game, while Amadou Onana is on the bench after returning from a calf injury.

Everton XI: Pickford, Young, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko, Garner, Doucoure, Gueye, McNeil, Harrison, Calvert-Lewin.

    Everton v Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino has made a number of surprising changes to the Chelsea side following Wednesday night's loss at Manchester United.

Raheem Sterling, Lewi Colwill, Thiago Silva and Nicolas Jackson all drop to the bench with captain Reece James, Conor Gallagher, Benoit Badiashile and Armando Broja coming in.

Chelsea XI: Sanchez, James, Disasi, Badiashile, Cucurella, Caicedo, Fernandez, Gallagher, Palmer, Mudryk, Broja.

  2. Team news - Haaland out, Rodri returnspublished at 13:01 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2023

Luton v Manchester City (14:00 GMT)

Luton make three changes to the side that narrowly lost 4-3 to Arsenal on Tuesday.

Defender Tom Lockyer and midfielder Marvelous Nakamba both return following injuries with Gabriel Osho not included and Issa Kabore unable to play against his parent club.

Wing-back Ryan Giles also comes in, while midfielder Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu drops to the bench.

Luton XI: Kaminski; Mengi, Lockyer, Bell; Doughty, Nakamba, Barkley, Giles; Townsend, Brown; Adebayo.

Subs: Krul, Andersen, Berry, Morris, Chong, Mpanzu, Clark, Lokonga, Johnson.

    Luton XI

Manchester City make four changes with the big news being the absence of Erling Haaland in the Citizens' squad. The Norwegian striker had started all of City's league matches this season.

John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Rico Lewis also drop to the bench.

But key midfielder Rodri returns for City alongside Jack Grealish. Both had missed Wednesday's loss to Aston Villa with one-match suspensions.

Mateo Kovacic and Nathan Ake also return.

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Bernado Silva, Foden, Grealish; Alvarez.

Subs: Ortega, Carson, Phillips, Stones, Gomez, Akanji, Nunes, Bobb, Lewis.

It's another thoroughly miserable day on Merseyside with the rain pouring at Goodison.

But Everton will be buoyed by their impressive 3-0 win over Newcastle three days ago - a result which took them out of the relegation zone following their 10-point deduction.

Sean Dyche has steered the Toffees ship through choppy waters and they now come up against a Chelsea side that have won only two of their last seven top-flight games.

Chelsea have spent over £1bn since being taken over by Todd Boehly's consortium and boss Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to be given time to stamp his mark on the side.

But this is Chelsea, where there are no guarantees over the position of the manager, as we have previously seen.

Manchester City at Luton Town is one of four Premier League games today.

Will Tottenham learn how to win again? Everton are looking to add to Chelsea's problems, while there's also a tasty London derby by the banks of the River Thames.

The Christmas shopping can wait. It's football all the way over the next few hours.

The race for the Christmas No 1 is hotting up.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa are all in the hunt to be top of the Premier League tree on 25 December.

Manchester City, so used to being in pole position when presents are unwrapped, will not be there.

Club World Cup commitments together with inconsistent form means last season's Treble winners are playing catch-up.

But will Pep Guardiola's side return to winning ways in their penultimate league game before flying to Saudi Arabia?
