You knew what Son was going to do. There's nothing you can do to stop it.

Udogie is the last person you expect to see there. He nails it. Well deserved by Spurs.

GOAL - Tottenham 1-0 Newcastlepublished at 25 mins

    Destiny Udogie

It's a first goal in Tottenham colours for Destiny Udogie, but the hard work was done by Son Heung-min.

He collects the ball just by the edge of the penalty area, a step over and go sees him sprint past Kieran Trippier, Son's cross is perfect and Udogie can't miss from close range.

Tim from Oxford (16:46) does not speak for the majority of Spurs fans. Ange needs time and a couple of transfer windows to turn Spurs around.

Newcastle don't need any more injuries and Jamaal Lascelles is limping after colliding into an advertising hoarding. One to monitor.

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Spurs have been the better side, they've had most of the midfield play and look dangerous in attack.

They just need to put the ball in the net.

Can VAR not book Almiron? Son's arm touches his neck slightly. Almiron goes down clutching his nose, like he's been hit by Tyson Fury! Weak.

    Karl, Rotterdam

No final killer pass from Tottenham, it’s all nicely, nicely with no end product. Thursday night all over again.

Brennan Johnson fires in a first-time cross across the face of goal, but Richarlison can't get there in time and the ball goes harmlessly off the field for a goal kick.

That reaction from Almiron was truly pathetic

    Craig, South Wales

I do hope Almiron recovers from that haymaker from Son that never actually touched his face.

Ange needs to win this today or he will start losing the fans and the players. 1pt from 15 before this game is worse than relegation form. Every side has injuries so no excuses, which to be fair he is not offering. But without the points, the project won't last very long.

Richarlison slides a pass to Son Heung-min, but the Spurs captain takes too long to decide what to do and Miguel Almiron gets back in time to get a foot in.

Son then challenges Almiron, who makes far too much of a stray arm in the chest. Luckily ref Chris Kavanagh isn't having any of it.

    FT: Everton 2-0 Chelsea

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports about the impact of Abdoulaye Doucoure: "He's been a credit since I walked in. He has accepted everything I have asked of him and more. He's put endless miles on the clock. He is a credit to the team and the club."

Newcastle looked jaded and well beaten by the final whistle at Everton on Thursday but there has been plenty of energy about their start here. Spurs, as usual, are in full attacking mode so we might get a very entertaining game.

  16. 'We can take confidence'published at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2023

    FT: Luton 1-2 Manchester City

    Luton Town

Luton Town boss Rob Edwards speaking to MOTD: "I think we can take confidence. We are playing well performing well. There's more to our game I think we've shown that, difficult opposition as well.

"I thought we were really brave, I thought the performance was excellent, without the ball really aggressive. Tried to not let them get their rhythm, get their game going. The goal was an excellent example of that.

"Frustrating to be honest, especially when you go 1-0 up. Full credit to Manchester City, that’s what top teams do."

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Ben Davies just got a touch. This is the game we wanted.

  18. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

Brilliant defending from Ben Davies, who saves his side certainly going behind. Anthony Gordon, starting his run from inside his own half, races away down the left and his cross is just waiting to be tapped in by Alexander Isak in the middle.

But just before Isak can convert, a sliding challenge from Davies gets the crucial touch to deflect it away from goal and even winning a goal kick as it then bounced off Isak.

  19. CLOSE!published at 8 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle

This would've been special if this had found the top corner. Bruno Guimaraes cuts across the shot, hitting it with the outside of the boot and watches it swerve goalbound.

Guglielmo Vicario is definitely worried and throws himself at it, with the ball just going over the angle of post and bar. Great effort.

  20. 'It was a really good test'published at 16:37 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2023

    FT: Luton 1-2 Manchester City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to MOTD: "Great performance after what happened in the last results. We conceded the goal in the last minute of the first half. It was a really good test and the players reacted as they had to.

"That is the challenge. They are still there in the way that they run, they fight and here and behave how we behave i am really proud."

Second half: “We played better in the first. The first half was better much better but we need the goals and in the first half we didn't score.”

On Haaland: “We don’t know. It’s his foot, we’ll see. Day by day, week by week. Hopefully we can recover him for the [Club] World Cup."
