  1. EFL sides in FA Cup actionpublished at 12:29 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

Today's Championship live is all we have from the English Football League, but that doesn't mean League One and League Two sides have a day off... it never does.

Northampton's League One game against leaders Portsmouth is the only game from the third and fourth division that goes ahead among a busy day of FA Cup action for sides from those two leagues.

We have live text commentary from today's FA Cup second round ties, but the early game between Alfreton and Walsall has just been postponed at the last minute due to a frozen pitch.

West Brom are delighting on the pitch, but there remains a little anxiety off it with the club up for sale.

Earlier this week, fans group Action For Albion called for Baggies supporters to stay patient as the reported proposed sale of the Championship club moves closer.

Albion released a statement on Monday to confirm officially for the first time that chairman Guochuan Lai is seeking new majority shareholders.

Leicester City remain Championship pacesetters and are having an outstanding season in almost every way possible.

But with just one win from their past four matches, and being held to a last-gasp draw by bottom side Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, has taken the sheen off things somewhat.

Foxes boss Enzo Maresca has this week spoken about just how tough their trip across the Midlands is today.

"In this moment, they [West Brom] a very intense team," he told BBC Radio Leicester.

"They're aggressive pressing onto your goalkeeper, and they in open play they drop into their half and wait for the right moment to press.

"Unfortunately we're coming up against a side in top form, but we're ready."

  5. West Brom risingpublished at 12:19 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

West Brom v Leicester (12.30 GMT)

Carlos Corberan's West Brom are on an upward trajectory, and just notching up the big scalps.

They have lost just once in seven games.

Last week they impressively rolled second-placed Ipswich Town on this very ground, and their win against Cardiff during the week actually had them as high as third.

Results on Wednesday meant they dropped back to fifth, but there is no denying they are a side that Championship leading Leicester City need to be wary of.

A look at the Championship table is just about all the scene setter one needs today.

Leicester City win and they remain at the top of the heap. Drop points against the in-form West Brom, and they may well be overtaken at the summit.

QPR's fight against avoiding Championship relegation has gained some real traction this week.

They beat Preston on a freezing night at Deedale last night to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Ilias Chair changed the game for the Londoners, coming off the bench in the second half to set up goal for Paul Smyth and Chris Willock

Good afternoon to one and all.

This is the weekend where many might be thinking about putting the Christmas tree up.

With it comes the merry dance many will do when trying to figure out just where some of those jolly ornaments go.

Does the Santa bell have pride of place above the koala on the surfboard? (Answer is, yes!)

There is lots of swapping and changing... and it feels a little like that in Championship all of a sudden.

Leicester might have been dazzling at the top, but they have lost a little lustre. At the same time, West Brom have just begun to shine.
