That's about all we've got time for after a night which Ipswich fans won't forget in a hurry.

Ipswich skipper Sam Morsy's strike 10 minutes from time took his side top of the Championship as they triumphed 2-1 at Watford for a fourth consecutive victory.

Elsewhere, Leam Richardson's first game in charge of Rotherham ended in defeat at home to West Brom, with second-half goals by Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace ensuring the Millers stay bottom.

Alan Browne, Will Keane and Ben Whiteman reignited Preston's play-off challenge with a 3-1 win at Huddersfield, despite Danny Ward's goal for the Terriers.

Blackburn are just a point behind their seventh-placed Lancashire neighbours, seeing off Bristol City 2-1 at Ewood Park with goals from Arnor Sigurdsson and Scott Wharton.

Managerless Stoke ended their four-match losing streak, but were denied all three points when Harry Darling's late header earned Swansea a 1-1 draw after Daniel Johnson's penalty had put the Potters in front.

There are six more Championship games on Wednesday and we'll bring you all the action from 19:30 GMT.

    Have a good evening!

Meanwhile at the bottom, Rotherham remain rooted to the foot of the table after their defeat by West Brom.

Stoke lift themselves up to 19th after their draw with Swansea in the managerless derby at the Bet365 Stadium.

Huddersfield remain in 21st place after their defeat by Preston, however, with very little change elsewhere in the bottom half of the table this evening.

So then, plenty of change at the top of the Championship this evening after a thrilling midweek set of fixtures.

Ipswich's win at Watford means they are crowned leaders at least for now, as they hold a two-point gap on Leicester who face Millwall tomorrow evening.

Sunderland move into the top six courtesy of their stunning win against Leeds who lose ground to the top two.

Wins for Preston and Blackburn means they keep pace in the mix for the top six.

    Reading 1-1 Oxford United

    Tim Dellor

The quality was very low, the keepers were largely redundant.

I don't think Button had to make a save this half.

A point reflects the match well.

All over at the Stadium of Light and what a colossal result from Sunderland to beat Leeds.

Jobe Bellingham's close range header gives the hosts all three points and moves them up to sixth in the process.

Leeds unbeaten run is ended at seven games and, to add insult to injury, they lose ground to the top two after Ipswich's win at Watford.

  6. 'Reading have conceded late in recent games...'published at 21:53 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

    Reading 1-1 Oxford United

    Tim Dellor
    BBC Berkshire sport editor

We are more nervous than we probably should be because Reading have conceded late in recent games, making nerve-racking finishes.

It has not been a classic, even now there is not that much tension considering this is a local derby and there is quite a lot at stake.

    Six minutes of stoppage time...

  7. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

    Sunderland 1-0 Leeds

Five additional minutes at the Stadium of Light.

Can Leeds find a dramatic late equaliser or can Sunderland hold on?

    Sunderland 1-0 Leeds

    Off the line!

Joel Piroe thinks he's weaved his way into space and slotted home an equaliser for Leeds.

But Trai Hume clears his effort off the line to maintain Sunderland's lead.

    Sunderland 1-0 Leeds

Leeds win a free kick just outside the corner of the Sunderland box.

Jaidon Anthony and Crysencio Summerville stand over it with the former delivering it into the box.

But the hosts head it away soon after.

    Reading 1-1 Oxford United

    Ady Williams
Former Reading captain on BBC Radio Berkshire

I'd accept a point as I think Oxford are a decent side.

But I think whoever is brave could still win this game.

  11. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:43 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

    Rotherham Utd 0-2 West Brom

There's no 'new manager bounce' for Rotherham - not yet, at least.

Leam Richardson's first game in charge of the Millers ends in defeat, with Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace scoring second-half goals to secure victory for West Brom.

Rotherham remain at the bottom of the Championship.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

    Stoke City 1-1 Swansea City

Spoils are shared by the caretaker bosses - Stoke's Paul Gallagher and Alan Sheehan of Swansea.

The Potters at least ended their run of defeats, but they'll be kicking themselves after Harry Darling's late header cancelled out a Daniel Johnson penalty.

  13. 'A stalemate'published at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

    Reading 1-1 Oxford United

    Tim Dellor
    BBC Berkshire sport editor

If either team scores then expect a more frantic last few minutes, but at the moment it's stalemate.

It's just getting slower and slower this game.

When you are at home the onus is on you though.

    Watford 1-2 Ipswich Town

The Tractor Boys roll relentlessly on - they are top of the Championship!

Skipper Sam Morsy is the hero for Ipswich, pouncing on that Wesley Hoedt error to slot the winner 10 minutes from time.

It was a ding-dong contest that looked for much of the second half as though it might go the other way - but it's the Suffolk side who are celebrating again.

    Sunderland 0-0 Leeds

Shortly after play restarts, Crysencio Summerville fires just wide as Leeds make a quick break.

  19. 'What a free-kick!'published at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

    Rotherham 0-2 West Brom

    Steve Hermon
    BBC Radio WM commentator

    What a free-kick!

Welcome back Jed Wallace, who has been out with a shoulder injury, but there's nothing wrong with his right foot, rifled off the underside of the crossbar and into the net.

Albion will be back to winning ways.

  20. goal

GOAL: Rotherham 0-2 West Brompublished at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

    Jed Wallace (90 mins)

That's surely all three points for the Baggies as Jed Wallace steps up and slams a curling free-kick over the wall and in off the crossbar.

It means Rotherham will stay bottom and without a win in nine games. Plenty of work for new boss Leam Richardson to do.
