The errors are frustrating and they do come against the top nations more frequently, I think Wales are better than this.

I don't expect any substitutions yet, I think Wales will ride it out, they are 2-0 down but keeping a back five at the moment is crucial not to concede anymore at this point.

  2. HALF-TIME - Denmark 2-0 Walespublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2023

The corner comes to nothing and that's that for the first half in Viborg.

Wales looked comfortable to start the game, limiting the Danish threat with a back five.

But two lapses in concentration have been costly.

The first left Amalie Vangsgaard unmarked in the box to head in the opener before Angharad James gifted the ball back to Denmark for Sofie Bredgaard to double the lead.

Plenty to do now in the second half and a big half-time team talk needed by Gemma Grainger.

  3. Good save!published at 45+1 mins

    Denmark 2-0 Wales

Amalie Vangsgaard once again gets in behind the Wales defence but cannot beat Olivia Clark who does well to turn the shot behind for a corner.

One minute will be added on.

  5. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Denmark 2-0 Wales

Denmark are looking for a third before the break, full-backs Sofie Svava and Frederikke Thordersen have looked particularly threatening down the wings.

Wales look like they're most dangerous when the midfielders get on the ball - Sophie Ingle, Angharad James and Jess Fishlock.

A better first half performance than the home fixture but very frustrating to concede two goals already with our compact back five.

  8. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Denmark 2-0 Wales

This is the best spell in the game for Wales, and a first real shot.

It comes from Jess Fishlock, but her powerful effort just lifts too high and over the bar.

This is better from the visitors though.

When you play the top teams they punish you when those errors happen, especially that close to the goal.

    Denmark 0-0 Wales

Another chance for Wales to break as they pinch the ball back in the centre circle.

Jess Fishlock picks out Ffion Morgan but she is immediately crowded out by three Danish shirts.

    Denmark 2-0 Wales

Wales have a rare chance to break, but Ffion Morgan's through ball looking for Carrie Jones is too firm and easily collected by Lene Christensen.

What I would like to see from Wales is to be a little bit more aggressive on that first press.

Another good finish but Sofie Bredgaard was in acres of space, Angharad James made an uncharacteristic mistake and unfortunately that sees Wales 2-0 down for a defensive error.

    Sofie Bredgaard

    The top teams punish errors.

Angharad James, one of Wales' most reliable players for years, is guilty of losing possession inside the Welsh area.

Mille Gejl does well to pinch the ball back, cut inside and lay the ball off to Sofie Bredgaard who finds the far side netting - Olivia Clark no chance.

It is a long way back for Gemma Grainger's side now.

    Denmark 1-0 Wales

The ball does strike a Danish arm but from very close range and not away from the body. Think that's the correct decision from the referee.

  17. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Denmark 1-0 Wales

The cross is not dealt with at the first attempt by the Denmark defence and the Welsh players are appealing for a penalty for handball.

Referee Sandra Bastos does not agree, and waves away the appeals.

  18. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Denmark 1-0 Wales

Another chance for a cross from a free-kick just inside the Danish half for Wales.

It will be Lily Woodham to take.

It's a free header within the six yard box. It's a disappointing one for Wales.

  20. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Denmark 1-0 Wales

The warning signs had been there for Wales before the goal.

Denmark have not lost to a team ranked outside the top 20 since 2017 and they have really stamped their authority on this game so far.
