A night for Preston's supporters to savour.

Another derby day win at Ewood Park and heading in the right direction in the table.

But for Blackburn it's another chastening defeat to one of their near neighbours.

That should have whetted the appetite for the rest of this weekend's action in the English Football League and we'll be back tomorrow afternoon to take you through all the goings on up and down the Championship, League One and League Two.

Preston manager Ryan Lowe told Sky Sports:

"Credit goes to the players, the staff and the fans. We are trying to bring the good times back.

"We are not one of the big hitters. We have to do it wisely.

"When you have got that fanbase, it is really pleasing to see.

"My celebration at the end, that is relief from me."

Preston midfielder Brad Potts talking to Sky Sports:

"We knew it was going to be a tough night, Blackburn are a good team.

"But the manager said we had 6,000 fans in tonight and we just wanted to send them home happy. Everyone is delighted.

"I am glad we have got three points and everyone can just enjoy it."

Preston match-winner Liam Lindsay told Sky Sports:

"It was a tough game, but giving the fans something to cheer at the end was class.

"I think that was my first winner I’ve scored so just taking it all in, the celebration wasn’t great.

"We’ve bounced back after a tricky patch and now we can relax during the international break and go again."

I am shell-shocked.

Blackburn played so well, you can't take that away from them, but they weren't lethal enough.

It's a lot of possession without goals.

Preston made it hard for Blackburn, they were organised.

It was a brilliant game. Every player has contributed. I've been so impressed.

But my overriding feeling leaving the stadium is that Blackburn messed it up.

Bringing Tyrhys Dolan off when they did seemed unnecessary.

It didn't help, they only improved Preston. They only have themselves to blame.

Preston boss Ryan Lowe is celebrating wildly in front of the travelling Preston supporters.

They are delighted. They hit a tough patch but this is two very impressive wins they've put together and they're back in the promotion frame.

All over at Ewood Park.

What a start to the weekend if you're a Preston fan. The bumper travelling crowd will remember this one.

Almost a year after they demolished Rovers 4-1 on a snowy December day, they've taken all three points home with them again.

This time the smash and grab late victory came thanks to Liam Lindsay's late header, nullifying the fine work Blackburn had done to make this a cracker of a Lancashire derby.

Preston go fourth heading into this weekend and string two wins together going into the international break. But it's a case of what could have been for Blackburn Rovers.

When you have got a team that is about 60% taller than your team, the last thing you want to do is to be defending those kind of balls in.

We're into six minutes of time added on at Ewood Park.

Plenty of Blackburn fans have seen enough and have left already.

Could they come from behind again to find a dramatic late equaliser?

I put it down to Blackburn's James Hill over-celebrating winning his team a throw-in before.

It was heavy pressure. It was a second-ball win that was crucial.

It looks like it could be the winner because it is so late in the game.

Preston, to me, do not look like their midfield want to win that second ball.

Callum Brittain could have put that in the top corner.

He drives at Freddie Woodman and the Preston keeper palms the ball away for a corner.

But North End swiftly win possession back and the corner is wasted by the hosts.

Bit of gamesmanship going on right now and a fair bit of time wasting.

This game is winding down but will there be a sting in the tail?

The adrenaline is pumping hard. This means something to Blackburn's Tyrhys Dolan.

He was at Preston as a junior. Unfortunately he was released.

Harry Leonard is going to be asked to do the same thing as Dolan, chase defenders.

He will have to use his enthusiasm and his energy.
