That will be a gutter for Dunfermline. Twice now in the league they've been hit by a late goal against the runaway leaders.

The performance against a top side can hearten James McPake, with confidence knowing his side can compete.

Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "We knew how important tonight's game was going to be. We knew it wasn't going to be straight forward, they're a good side.

"Delighted with the team and the performance. Not accepting the point away from home, pushing right to the end and getting maximum points.

"Chris Mochrie's got that in his locker. He's a really good young talent for us. It's good that the two substitutes combined and got the points for us.

"The equaliser rattles us a bit, but it's good character from the boys.

I'm very happy with the squad I have. We worked very hard in the summer, there was a hell of a lot of work to be done. Some of the academy players have been promoted and become really important players.

"It's important we keep the momentum going. There's no such thing as fatigue. 17 games unbeaten. We looked relatively comfortable. We just need to keep doing what we're doing."

I thought Dunfermline looked like the team that were going to go on and win the game.

It's twice now they've conceded late against Dundee United. They'll be disappointed they didn't get anything out of this game.

Dunfermline will be disappointed, but that's why Dundee United are top of the league and unbeaten.

  8. FULL-TIME Dunfermline 1-2 Dundee Unitedpublished at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2023

The league leaders go marching on.

Chris Mochrie's late winner means all three points head back to the city of discovery as Dundee United continue to set the pace in the Championship.

They were asked plenty of questions by a game Dunfermline, but Harry Sharp's late blunder leaves James McPake's men frustrated.

I've been very impressed with Mochrie since he came on. It's a lovely drop of the shoulder, but Sharp has to do better.

It's straight at him - he's got to save that.

    Chris Mochrie

Oh, keeper. The Dundee loanee might just have won it for United.

Credit where it's due, there's a nice turn and hit from Chris Mochrie, but Harry Sharp has to be stronger to keep that one out.

This United team just seem to find a way. It's why they're top of the league!
