Dundee United started the brighter, pressing Dunfermline, but the hosts did get a bit of control in the game.

When United go in front, it then looks like they are going to go get a second.

There was plenty in that first half and there's more to come in the second.

Last week, James McPake was far from happy with his side's second-half performance.

Tonight, they'll need to improve on a sloppy and careless first period if they're to get anything from this one.

Neither side have been at their best, but the unbeaten league leaders head into the break on track to extend their lead at the top.

Brave, quick, alert goalkeeping to correct the mistake that was originally made.

He's out there so quick to Louis Moult, and fortunately I don't think he's been caught flush in the face.

It's a poor first touch from Moult though.

But Deniz Mehmet was in trouble there.

He slips at a goal-kick and gives the ball straight to Louis Moult, with eye lit up and an easy route to goal. The Pars goalkeeper reacts tremendously to rush forward and seize the ball.

Huge chance blown, and now Mehmet is receiving treatment for his troubles.

Craig Sibbald looks for a piledriver from distance, but that's never troubling Deniz Mehmet.

That's seven goals this season for 20-year-old Kai Fotheringham.

He was excellent in the first-half of last season with eventual League 2 champions Stirling Albion. Now back in the lower leagues, he's a player who can really make a difference.

And he's only going to get better.

Btw, I don't think Deniz Mehmet knew how close that was. Kai Fotheringham's cross drops just wide as the Dunfermline goalkeeper stays rooted with hands up.

A ping of a pass from Chris Hamilton allows Lewis McCann in behind, but the United stopper gets right side and stays strong to halt the move.
