Robert Vilahamn said this week that he would rather Spurs lose games 3-2 than 1-0. He may well get his wish tonight.

Spurs have stepped up to City in midfield since the first goal, looking to break in numbers.

The problem with that is it leaves more gaps at the back - as City have exploited.

Shortly after joining team-mate Filippa Angeldahl in the referees' book, Jill Roord takes aim at the Tottenham goal but her shot is comfortably claimed by Rebecca Spencer.

Tottenham opening up a bit is offering City more space in the final third.

Manchester City have avoided defeat in their last six WSL matches when scoring the opening goal. They certainly know how to see out a win.

But Tottenham have responded positively to falling a goal behind, knocking the ball around and taking a few more risks.

Great play by Man City really moving the ball crisply, giving themselves a lot of options. That ball from Ouahabi delivered with such pace and Bunny Shaw - even if she's tightly marked it doesn't matter because if she's there she's going to bury it. Becky Spencer gets a hand to it, but with the pace and the power from [Shaw's] head, you're not stopping that.

What can Tottenham offer in response?

The visitors had been happy to try and contain City for much of this first half, but will we see an immediate change in approach?

Chloe Kelly and Alex Greenwood are deep in discussion over how to approach a free-kick midway inside the Tottenham half. It's Greenwood who whips a cross in, but Spurs deal with it.

The visitors quickly get down the other end and earn a set-piece of their own, but the corner from the right is over-hit. Signs this one may be starting to open up.

You can tell both sides are keen to play out from the back, in that both keepers have already been put under pressure by rather unkind back passes.

Both Khiara Keating and Becky Spencer dealt with them well.

Tottenham invite pressure on themselves and it leads to Rebecca Spencer sending a rushed clearance out for a throw-in as the light blue shirts race forward. The intensity has been superb from City so far.

Not long after going close to finding the back of the net, Filippa Angeldahl becomes the first player in the referees' book for a late foul.

Almost the opener for Manchester City!

Lauren Hemp bursts into life, escaping down the left channel and dinking an inviting cross into the area.

She finds Filippa Angeldahl, whose glancing header flies narrowly wide of the far post.

Tottenham have to get support, get willing runners. They're all very much congested in their own half at the moment. They need to explode forward and support the player on the ball, and sometimes it can be a hard mentality switch to get into that state of mind.

Tottenham work the ball neatly forward and into the City penalty area, but Grace Clinton is offside as she receives a pass with her back to goal. Better from the away side.

City continue to dominate possession, but Tottenham are keeping them at arms length for now.

When the visitors do manage to get the ball, they're immediately under pressure. Chloe Kelly is all over a loose pass but she can't quite prevent the ball going out for a goal kick.

Alanna Kennedy stands motionless with the ball at her feet for what seems like an age, waiting for a Tottenham player to be drawn out or for a team-mate to make a run. Neither occurs. Spurs are intent on remaining compact for the time being.

Man City are toying with Tottenham at the moment. Being patient and then speeding up the ball as and when they see fit and trying to get down the sides.

There isn't the 43,615 fans who were in Old Trafford last week, but there is a portion of City fans who are making decent noise.

"Manchester City, the only football team to come from Manchester," is their tuneful albeit untrue chant.

Gareth Taylor will be rather pleased with how his side have started here, they really haven't allowed Spurs to settle at all.

Yui Hasegawa looks to the sky after misplacing a pass in midfield, but it's not long before City win it back.

A first corner becomes a series of corners for Manchester City, but Tottenham defend their penalty area well to avoid any early setback.

There's no rest for the visitors here though. A sweeping pass from Alanna Kennedy picks out Chloe Kelly, who earns her side yet another corner.
