This is how things look at the bottom of the Championship heading into the weekend.

The biggest movers are Huddersfield Town.

Their win against Sunderland means they are now six points clear of the bottom three.

Bottom side Sheffield Wednesday clinched a point against league leaders Leicester, but they're still 12 points adrift after their Yorkshire rivals' victory against the Black Cats.

Leicester maintain their position at the top of the tree at the end of this midweek round of Championship fixtures.

Ipswich are breathing down their necks courtesy of their win against Millwall but there's plenty of form sides behind the top two.

The teams in third position to seventh all won in midweek, with third-placed Leeds beating Swansea, fourth-placed Southampton beating Bristol City and seventh-placed Blackburn beating Birmingham tonight.

Just one point separates Ipswich Town now from leaders Leicester City after Sheffield Wednesday's superb draw with the Foxes, and their own win over Millwall here at Portman Road.

Ipswich kept to their side of the bargain with a fine first-half display, cutting Millwall to ribbons with attacking play - thanks to goals by Conor Chaplin, Massimo Luongo and Nathan Broadhead.

Millwall keeper Bartosz Bialkowski kept his old side at bay to keep the score down in the second-half, as Ipswich continued to push forward, but it's merely a consolation that Kevin Nisbet can look upon his goal as after defeat.

Ipswich showing their promotion mettle, Millwall in that pack sat just above the relegation places, with QPR, Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday currently a far way adrift.

  6. GREAT SAVES!published at 21:52 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2023

    Ipswich 3-1 Millwall

One man who has shown his qualities tonight in tough conditions is Millwall goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.

Two more fine saves for his personal highlights reel from this match, denying Dane Scarlett with his feet and then again frustrating Marcus Harness seconds later.

Ipswich can't snare that precious fourth.

    Ipswich 3-1 Millwall

Millwall enjoying plenty of ball but they can't break down this Ipswich side, despite that goal from Kevin Nisbet.

Joe Edwards is emotionless on the touchline. But the home side have ridden the flurry.

The changes look like they've knocked Ipswich off their stride a little, but it's comfortable all the same.

Blackburn see out the win against Birmingham after the visitors mounted a second-half comeback.

A six-goal thriller ends in Rovers' favour and lifts them up to seventh and two points off the Championship play-off places - a remarkable feat considering Jon Dahl Tomasson's side were hovering towards the bottom of the table not so long ago.

Wayne Rooney's side slip to another defeat under his tenure, meanwhile. Plenty to think about, including the two goalkeeping howlers from John Ruddy.

Six home wins on the bounce for Leeds. Daniel Farke's side put their disappointment at Rotherham last weekend aside to win convincingly.

After going behind to Jamie Paterson's lobbed opener, goals from Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter and Dan James ensure the three points.

The men from Elland Road are kicking on nicely now.

Swansea now four without a win.

    All over at Hillsborough!

Jeff Hendrick's late goal rescues a point for Sheffield Wednesday against a Leicester side who finished the game poorly.

Abdul Fatawu's goal was not enough for the visitors.

  13. 'Leicester will be kicking themselves'published at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2023

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Leicester

    Michael Morrison
Former Foxes defender on BBC Radio Leicester

It looked like the game was wrapped up, now you can hear Hillsborough rocking.

The goalkeeper had no chance, it's a really, really, good finish by Jeff Hendrick.

That was only their first shot on target in the half, but maybe it's just reward for their first-half performance.

    Leicester will be kicking themselves.

GOAL: Ipswich 3-1 Millwallpublished at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2023

    Kevin Nisbet (78 mins)

    Millwall on the board.

Fine goal for former Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet, who swivels to meet a curling cross from the left, nicely done, and finding the back of the net.

Might not change the complexion of the game, but it's a positive for the Lions.

    Sunderland 1-2 Huddersfield

Huddersfield and Darren Moore get a morale-boosting victory as they look to clamber away from the bottom three in the Championship.

Sunderland had so many chances but were only able to find the net when Luke O'Nien levelled to cancel out Michal Helik's goal.

In the second-half, Delano Burgzorg did what a host of Black Cats couldn't when he smashed home.

Tony Mowbray's hosts see their top-six aims dented.

Might not be Swansea's night but they are going to give ex-Plymouth, Palace, Everton and Villa winger Yannick Bolasie a crack tonight.

Always liked the organised chaos he seemed to cause.

  18. goal

GOAL: Sheff Wed 1-1 Leicesterpublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2023

    Jeff Hendrick (90+3 mins)

Equaliser for the Championship's bottom side!

What a time to get an equaliser against the league leaders!

It's not pretty but Sheffield Wednesday won't care. They send it high into the Leicester box, Jeff Hendrick gets on the end of it, races towards goal and finishes coolly from close range.

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Leicester

Blimey, you don't get better chances than this to rescue a point against the Championship leaders.

Sheffield Wednesday disposses Leicester on the edge of their box, the ball falls kindly to Ashley Fletcher who sends a tame shot straight at Foxes keeper Mads Hermansen.

    Sunderland 1-2 Huddersfield

The shuffling menace of Jack Clarke almost results in an equaliser, but Chris Maxwell's near-post save keeps Huddersfield ahead.

TWENTY SEVEN shots for the Wearsiders. One goal. Therein lies Tony Mowbray's issues.
