    That's all from me tonight.

Check out Emma Smith's report on that goalless draw here.

We've got FA Cup action for the rest of the week so we'll see you all again on Thursday for the first of those matches when Crystal Palace host Everton in the third round.

    See you then!

  2. 'Hopefully we can build on that first clean sheet'published at 22:01 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2024

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton midfielder James Milner speaking to Sky Sports: "Really disappointing from our point of view. We controlled the game, especially the second half, and created the chances. We didn't quite get the goal. We hadn't had a clean sheet all year and managed to get one today but we can't quite put the ball in the back of the other net.

"I thought it was a solid performance, particularly from some of the lads coming back who haven't had much football, Pervis [Estupinan] and Webby [Webster] coming in and doing the job they did, they were outstanding.

On taking the positives: "Yes I think so. We created the chances to win the game, but couldn't quite get the goal. Ultimately there are plenty of positives to take but we came for the three points and only got one but hopefully we can build on the clean sheet in the new year. It should help us push forward with the firepower we've got upfront.

On playing in so many positions in his career: "Yeah I think goalkeeper is the only one left that I need. Not one I want to play in but if there are a few minutes left and the keeper has a strain, I'll take that and go in goal.

On helping the young players in the squad: "Yes of course, myself, Adz [Lallana], Welbz [Welbeck] it is an important role for us to try and help these guys. You have the likes of Jack Hinshelwood who makes me feel old but he plays like an older player already, he's so good, his potential is so high. You just try and help them in any way you can. On the training field, in the gym, in the dressing room, it is our job to help them reach their potential as fast as possible."

  3. 'We deserved to win'published at 21:59 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2024

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi to BBC Sport: "I'm really pleased with the performance. We made a clean sheet so you're happy because Brighton made a clean sheet.

"We played a great game. We deserved to win. We played a very smart game because the best quality of West Ham is counter-attack and we played with a focus, don't concede a counter-attack.

"We created eight clear chances to score and I'm really pleased for the performance, the understanding of the play I want and demand.

"I must repeat I'm very lucky because I have an incredible dressing room. We can play without so many injuries."

On James Milner: "He's a great use for us. We're proud to have him in our team. He's improving because in his physical condition he can play 90 minutes with the same intensity and enetgy. We need him to reach our target, to fight to reach the higher position of the table.

"I'd love to win the game 4-0 but clean sheets is your problem. There are bigger teams in the Premier League who concede more or less the same goals. We have been unlucky in a lot of games where we could have kept a clean sheet.

"Now we have to win in the FA Cup and then we prepare for the second part of the season. We are used to playing so many important and tough games."

  4. 'Areola has big presence'published at 21:57 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2024

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Brighton

    West Ham United

More from David Moyes speaking to Sky Sports on goalkeeper Alphonse Areola: "He's played really well for us and has made some big saves. He has a big presence in goal.

"There were bits of his distribution I'd like to be better and hopefully we can work on things to get that better but his overall performance was excellent.

"We need a good goalkeeper and I'm really pleased we have another clean sheet."

  5. 'I'm thrilled with the result'published at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2024

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Brighton

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes speaking to Sky Sports: "I'm thrilled with the result and to get the point. I thought Brighton played very well and were the better team.

"They had a few chances and their goalkeeper made some good saves. I think we might have had the best chance of the game with Tomas Soucek but when it didn't go in, I said to myself 'we probably need to fight our way to a 0-0' and the players did a great job in getting that.

"When you are playing really good teams, which we have been especially in this Christmas period, we've had to be really compact defensively and as organised as we can be.

"Tonight we lacked the quality that might make the difference at the other end of the pitch when we have the ball. But we are playing with two centre-halves who haven't played that much recently and a full-back who is the same. I thought the boys at the back have done a brilliant job. They have done what they had to do and my goalkeeper played very well. We got a point from it."

  7. 'Disappointed with a point given the chances we created'published at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2024

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton's Player of the Match, Jack Hinshelwood, speaking to Sky Sports: "It feels like both a good point and an opportunity missed. It is never easy to come here so first of all we are happy with the clean sheet and we are going to have to take a point.

"But overall with the chances we had, we are obviously disappointed not to have won the game."

On the clean sheet: "It's not really a relief, I think we have been very good defensively at times this season and haven't got the clean sheets we perhaps deserved on some occasions.

"I think today was a really solid performance, we really limited them to very little chances, and we created quite a few chances ourselves. So yes, unfortunate not to take the win."

On his development this season: "It is massive to get the playing time and also to be trusted by the gaffer to play in so many different positions. Learning and growing in so many different areas is something I have done all my life throughout the academy so to do it at the senior level is great and it continued today.

"The way the club gives us boys the opportunity is massive. At the end of the day it is up to us to go out and perform and take it. First and foremost we have to make sure that we deserve to be out there."

On Roberto de Zerbi: "The manager is great. The way we work on things throughout the week is great, makes the patterns of play so easy to understand, everyone knows what they want and need to do with the ball."

  8. 'We rode our luck a wee bit'published at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2024

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Brighton

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes told BBC Sport: "We had a couple of chances. Tomas Soucek had a great chance.

"We rode our luck a wee bit. It's been a really good Christmas period, three wins and a draw. No complaints.

"All teams need the best players playing. We probably missed a bit of that tonight. I'm really pleased.

"For some reason we weren't alowed to play ours [Africa Cup of Nations players] when Salah played for Liverpool last night.

"We've got a long way to go. It's been a long Christmas period for the players and they've done a really good job.

"I hope we can keep growing and getting better."

Here's how the table looks following that goalless draw.

At 19 years and 10 days, Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte is the youngest player to create as many as four chances in a Premier League match since Callum Hudson-Odoi for Chelsea against Newcastle in October 2019.

Brighton's 18-year-old midfielder Jack Hinshelwood has also been named Man of the Match after an excellent performance at right-back.

  13. Not used to a 0-0published at 21:32 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2024

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Brighton

This was West Ham’s first 0-0 draw at home in the Premier League since September 2018 against Chelsea.

It's ended a run of 101 games at the London Stadium without one.

It was their first goalless draw in 80 games in the competition since December 2021 at Burnley.

Brighton had 22 shots in this match, the most West Ham have faced in a Premier League home game without conceding since December 2017 against Arsenal.

But both teams start the year off with a point and a clean sheet. There's far worse scenarios at the end of a gruelling festive schedule.

Liverpool v Newcastle yesterday was an advert for the PL. This is the opposite.

Ross: West Ham playing for a draw doesn’t seem to be going down well with their fans. Does seem a little limited in ambition when playing at home.

Okay, it's boring and a bit bland but it's been heated at times and perfectly cooked through... Oh wait, I'm talking about the rice again, aren't I?
