Both WHU and BHA are doing well this season, with European campaigns. For a neutral like me it’s been a bit boring but I’d not anticipate Moyes or De Zerbi factoring my entertainment into their game or longer term plans!

Paul: In my local we’ve just voted to switch over from the West Ham v Brighton game to the darts. One of the worst games of football I’ve had the misfortune to sit through.

There's been a few of those chances now from Brighton where the final shot has just gone straight at Alphonse Areola.

It was a great, mazy run from Joao Pedro, but the final finish let him down. Just tried to cut it back across goal but hit it down the keeper's throat.

  10. CLOSE!published at 50 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Brighton

A tame effort from Pablo Fornals is straight at Jason Steele.

A few moments later, Joao Pedro dances inside off the left, beating a few players with his quick feet but he thumps it straight at Alphonse Areola.

That was a really good chance, created all by himself, and he couldn't capitalise.

Andy: I'm watching my beloved Hammers, Mrs Andy has been watching a pan of brown rice boil for half an hour. I think she got the better deal.

    West Ham 0-0 Brighton

    Alan Smith
Former Arsenal forward on Sky Sports

When you go to ground like Emerson did there, your arms will always come up. It was a natural position to be in.

Thankfully VAR didn't take too long on the decision either.

  16. Postpublished at 54 mins

Frantic! It goes straight up the other end to Jarrod Bowen but he can't turn to get a shot off.

The VAR check comes to nothing. No penalty.

  17. Postpublished at 53 mins

Strong appeals by Jack Hinshelwood as his cross is blocked by a sliding Emerson in the box. He's claiming handball and while play goes on, that will be checked by VAR.

All these people complaining about the match being boring... what do they expect with so many injuries to top players, and the knock-on impact that has to makeshift teams not used to playing with each other. Hardly surprising.

    Andy, Brighton

Well said Tom. Both teams 1 or 2 players absent and you can the see the quality drop. Most teams in the league are 1 or 2 players to be missing to see difference in a performance. We all want to see goals but I can clearly understand.
