  2. 'Frustrating performance from Chelsea'published at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    HT: Chelsea 1-1 Paris FC

    Gilly Flaherty
Former Chelsea and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It has been a quite frustrating performance so far.

For Chelsea the predictability is the issue. They are forcing a lot of balls and playing into Paris FC's hands by playing too centrally and attempting big passes which just give the ball away.

They are causing their own problems, giving the ball away too easily and too often.

Emma Hayes was a few yards away from Niamh Charles when the whistle went for half-time but she didn't hang around to wait for her.

She went straight down the tunnel with a frown on her face and was quickly followed by assistant Denise Reddy.

Chelsea have been far from their best and given BK Hacken's victory over Real Madrid earlier, they really can't afford to drop further points.

Ooh. Lauren James plays an inviting cross into the Paris FC box after Chelsea have a free-kick. Jessie Fleming manages to get a touch to it but it's bouncing and easily caught by the goalkeeper.

  6. 'Chelsea too predictable at the moment'published at 20:44 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    Chelsea 1-1 Paris FC

    Tanya Oxtoby
Northern Ireland manager on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

You can see Emma Hayes is quite frustrated at the moment down there on the touchline.

There is too much predictability in their build up phase, there is not enough movement off the ball, not enough runs into the pockets - that is all part of Chelsea's DNA.

Lauren James is tracking back regularly tonight for Chelsea.

She drops in behind as Paris FC look to break and stops them created another attacking opportunity.

It's not a huge surprise. Chelsea haven't played particularly well and they've been inviting pressure from Paris FC, who are pressing high.

It's a looping header and Jess Carter is in position on the line but just misreads the flight of the ball and mistimes her jump.

She scored an own goal here at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the 5-1 win over Liverpool but I think this one goes down as Thea Grevoval's.

Lauren James produces a tidy bit of footwork to work free of two Paris FC defenders, but Chelsea can't ignite an attack.

It's a big header from Greboval but for me Ann-Katrin Berger has to go for that.

You're the goalkeeper and can use your hands. Yes Jess Carter was stood on the line but she got up as high as she could with her head and still couldn't reach it.

A keeper has to take control of that situation there.

    Paris FC are level!

That's a poor goal for Chelsea to concede. Paris FC defender Thea Greboval loops a header towards the Chelsea goal after the visitors have a corner.

Jess Carter tries to head clear on the goal-line but can only send it into the roof of the net.

Paris FC goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was one of those to light up the World Cup with Nigeria in the summer so we know she's a top, top shotstopper and she proved it then.

Even Emma Hayes was jumping up half-celebrating, expecting that to go in.

    Huge save!

To be honest when James cut inside on her right foot I thought she was going to leather it!

Instead she produces an unbelievable ball for Sam Kerr, curls it into the back post inside the defender, and Kerr has the simple task to tap it in, which she does.

And there's the quality that Chelsea possess in abundance.

They've not been at their best so far but Lauren James suddenly produces a sublime pass and Sam Kerr has the intelligence to flick it past the goalkeeper.

"That's why we're champions," sings a Chelsea fan to our left.

    Chelsea lead!

That's a well-worked goal to open the scoring. Lauren James is free on the left-hand side, cuts inside onto her right foot and drills a perfectly-timed ball towards the back post.

It's met by Sam Kerr, who coolly turns home.

  20. 'Chelsea playing into Paris FC's hands'published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    Chelsea 0-0 Paris FC

    Gilly Flaherty
Former Chelsea and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea are killing their own game by turning the ball over in possession.

When a team plays such a high press against you it is better to try and turn them and use your pace. Chelsea have Kerr, Rytting-Kaneryd and James up top, put the ball over the top and stretch them. Then yo can play your possession game when they drop off.

They are playing into Paris FC's strengths at the moment.
