  1. That's all for tonightpublished at 22:30 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    FT: Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC

It looked like Chelsea might be set for a difficult night after entering half-time with the scoreline at 1-1 against a team who've already beaten Arsenal and Wolfsburg in the Champions League this season.

In the end it was a comfortable win for the Blues as a Sam Kerr hat-trick helped to lead Chelsea to a 4-1 win.

That's their first win in the group stages, but Chelsea sit second in Group D with four points, trailing leaders BK Hacken by two points.

That's all from us for tonight. I'll leave you with Emma Sanders' report from Stamford Bridge.

  3. 'Kirby gives her team that forward impetus'published at 22:25 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    FT: Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC

    Vicki Sparks
BBC commentator, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's the forward impetus that Fran Kirby gives Chelsea that makes her so important.

She sees passes that no one else does, she receives the ball and is already looking for her next move, she is already looking for the next pass.

When you have Fran Kirby on the pitch your play is fluid. England missed that in key stages a the World Cup and Chelsea have missed that in large parts over the last year.

Kirby was so central to that attacking play in the second half and made the crucial difference in the end.

  4. 'Berger save in the second half was the turning point'published at 22:23 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

Northern Ireland manager on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

When Paris FC look back on this game they will be very disappointed.

When you play against the top teams they won't normally give you as many chances as Chelsea did tonight and they did not take them.

The turning point in the second half where Berger produces a big save and then Chelsea go up the other end and take their chance, that sums up how hard it is at this level.

Chelsea's subs made a massive impact on the game too.

  5. 'Bright is a big loss'published at 22:21 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    FT: Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC

    Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Sophie Ingle on DAZN: "That is what is great about our team: when someone drops out someone is ready to come in. Millie [Bright] is a big loss though.

"Training is tough every single but that is why people are ready to come in. You're playing against top players every day.

"I don't score many goals but it is great to score from a set piece on this European night."

  6. 'Kirby's quality gave us what we needed'published at 22:18 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    FT: Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Emma Hayes on DAZN: "First of all, you know how hard it is to play back-to-back-to-back. I didn't think we looked super fresh. I felt like we lacked a player closer to Sam Kerr in the first half so I brought on Fran Kirby and I felt that worked really well. Fran's little bit of quality gave us what we needed.

"I thought we looked leggy generally. It was a quiet changing room at half-time. Credit to my team, they dug in despite us looking sloppy at times. They are a good team, don't take anything away from them. To score four goals, and dig in, that is why I was impressed with my team.

"I didn't feel concerned. I just knew at half-time if I could adjust a few things and get some control in the central pocket, I always feel like there's goals in us. It was just a night where we needed to dig a little bit deep.

"I felt like we needed Sophie Ingle's experience in the second half. She came in and calmed the game down for us. That is what she brings but I am also developing players at the same time. We've got another game in three days and Sophie will play."

  7. Unbeaten start continuespublished at 22:15 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC

Chelsea are without defeat after their opening seven Women's Super League games – and they're now unbeaten after two Champions League games too.

That's nine games unbeaten in all competitions for Emma Hayes's side to kick off their season.

  8. 'I'm not quite there yet'published at 22:12 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    FT: Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC

    Chelsea

Chelsea striker Sam Kerr on DAZN: "The first half was difficult. They are a hard team to break down. Once we cleaned up our passes and upped our level a little bit we helped ourselves out. They are a tough team to break down.

"It is difficult. It is just part of my game, the number nine in most teams needs to stay switched on and be ready. When I'm not at my full fitness it is difficult but it is OK.

"Fran [Kirby] has had an amazing career and we know what she's done for Chelsea. She added a different spark tonight.

"I felt like I was lucky with my first touch for my hat-trick goal but then I saw her back-pedalling so I thought I'd try the lob. I don't mind those ones to be honest!

"I am getting really close to 100%. I just need more consistency, more training and more games. This last block has been difficult because you don't train that often. I am pretty close but I'm not quite there yet.

"I asked what score the Hacken-Madrid game was when I came off!"

  10. 'Goals will give Kerr confidence after tough start to the season'published at 22:06 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    FT: Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC

    Gilly Flaherty
Former Chelsea and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sam Kerr had a difficult World Cup, a home tournament, expecting to lead the hosts out as captain and she picks up a difficult injury on the eve of the first match.

She came back in the latter stages but wasn't playing her top level and the emotional toll that must have taken on her is huge.

We've seen the impact of that tournament on her pre-season and her start to the season.

She gets criticised when she plays and doesn't score, so the goals tonight will give her confidence going forwards.

  12. 'Instinctive link up between Kerr and Kirby decisive for Chelsea'published at 22:01 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2023

    FT: Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC

    Tanya Oxtoby
Northern Ireland manager on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

I thought Sam Kerr came into the game more because Fran Kirby came into the team. The link up play that they have, that instinctive ability to know where each other is on the pitch has really come to the fore and been decisive.

There are areas that Chelsea need to tidy up on, Paris have had opportunities and if they were more clinical it could have been a different result.

But it is good that they look to have gotten the three points and will move on to their next fixtures.

Good result but poor performance in first half as very pedestrian and careless in possession. Fair play to Paris. Onwards and upwards

    FT: Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC

    Gilly Flaherty
Former Chelsea and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea just need to be mindful going forward because they did give Paris FC a lot of chances tonight.

On another day, against another team, you may be looking at a different scoreline. They just have to clear up those little mistakes and tidy up in a few areas

Fran Kirby changed the game when she came on, especially with that link up with Sam Kerr. They looked like a different team in the second half.
