Palace fans should look at the match stats which say they are about even with Arsenal so far; basically trailing from the rub of the green. Stop the pessimism.

Ooh, this goes to VAR. Gabriel Jesus falls dramatically in the box after a scramble at the corner. There's a few shots, a few blocks and Jesus then goes down with the ball loose in front of him.

After a few moments, VAR confirms the on-field decision which is no goal.

Martin Odegaard has a few nice touches on the edge of the box. It comes to Gabriel Jesus but the angle is tight. His shot deflects into the side-netting and Arsenal have another corner.

Got to feel for Gabriel there. How can that be given as an own goal when it's very clearly going in before it hits Henderson? Unless there's something I'm missing it seems very bizarre to me.

Not much going on at the moment. Arsenal are passing it between themselves. Gabriel Jesus is flagged offside again eventually.

Rachel: Wouldn't it be kinder to Roy Hodgson to end his time at Palace now rather than the end of the season? This could get ugly for them towards the end of the season.

  7. 'Only Palace threat coming from Eze'published at 13:42 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

    Arsenal 2-0 Crystal Palace

    Mark Warburton
Former Brentford boss on BBC Radio 5 Live

The only threat here from Palace is coming from Eze, who tested Raya and forced a corner at the other end.

Other than that same as the first half, Arsenal have come out and begun to dominate possession once more.

Arteta is appealing for a penalty for a foul on Bukayo Saka on that Arsenal counter attack. Possible VAR check coming.

  10. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 51 mins

    Arsenal 2-0 Crystal Palace

There's strong appeals for a penalty by Bukayo Saka.

Gabriel Jesus has it on the right. Saka tumbles with Will Hughes in the middle and goes down.

As the cross comes across, Leandro Trossard gets the ball stuck under his feet and Dean Henderson can gobble it up.

Saka is adament he should have a penalty but the replay suggests there wasn't much in it at all.

Eberechi Eze cuts into the middle and fires a dipping shot towards the left corner. It's awkward for David Raya and he has to scramble across to make sure.

Gabriel scoring twice and Arsenal fans still moaning that they need a striker! Think they’ve found a saviour there.

Unfortunately his second goal has now been given as an own goal to Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Arteta has taken Arsenal from being a timid and limited squad of also rans to title contenders in three years. Club is spending big bucks on top players like Rice. And still Arsenal fans are moaning. There are a lot of clubs across Europe that would take that position any day of the week. Enjoy the ride Arsenal fans. You may land a big trophy and you may not but at least you’re competing.

    David, NI

People...the team are playing lovely football and creating buckets of chances. Get off their backs....the goals will come. Agree we need a striker but the world has not ended!

Confirmation that Gabriel's second goal has now been officially given as an own goal by goalkeeper Dean Henderson which is no surprise!

Crystal Palace have never avoided defeat when trailing by two or more goals away from home at half time in the Premier League.

They have lost on all 28 occasions when they've found themselves in that situation.

Palace fan here. Pains me to say but I think Roy's time is up. Dare I say it, Graham Potter in?

    Sam, Stoke Newington

I think there are 2 plausible explanations for Roy Hodgson throwing away the FA Cup tie. He either has lost his mind and really believed Palace had a chance against Arsenal, or else he wants to get fired.

    Chris, Horsham

Uninterested and going through the motions is how I would describe Palace at the moment.
