Andrew: Remember a couple of months ago the Arsenal-outcry after Joelinton’s two hands on Gabriel’s back?

Can’t wait for MoTD tonight to hear what the guys make of that Arsenal “goal”! Clear foul by Gabriel, where was VAR? Arteta would be going ballistic if that had been the other way round!

I used to really like watching Arsenal but they seem to have become a 'can give it but can't take it team.' They appeal for everything, go down easy, yet are happy to be more aggressive themselves. A far cry from Wengers teams.

Arsenal are managing things very well so far. Palace haven't created anything at all of note. It's just been easy for Mikel Arteta's side.

KJB: I'm not counting our chickens just yet. Too many times we've started well and then fallen away, panicked, and caved. We haven't been tested defensively yet, and Raya hasn't come under pressure yet. This last point will be under scrutiny by absolutely everyone.

There are notable upgrades needed on that arsenal team, for example, both full backs are mid table players or squad players in a top 4 team at best.

Hoping for a good win today. But I'm feeling a bit jaded by a sense of deja vu. Like Wenger, Arteta has a lot of talents, but I think he's going to be undone by his own stubbornness. Hopefully his inevitable demise will be less drawn out and we can move on to a more adaptive mentality, and maybe even win something. We're not going to win anything as it is, and within a couple of years our best players will leave for trophies elsewhere. I also wish Raya and Havertz had never joined.. although good luck to them today. I'm not at all fickle!

A good chance. Ben White slips it through to Bukayo Saka, he plays it in early for Gabriel Jesus and Chris Richards had to intercept it.

From the corner, it's headed wide by goalscorer Gabriel.

Dean Henderson is hurried into a few rushed clearances which gift the ball back to Arsenal.

Gabriel and Chris Richards have a battle for the ball on the wing shortly afterwards and it goes in the Palace defender's favour.

Somehow playing Hughes and Schlupp together is like playing with a man down.

Adam: Other way round and Gabriel and Arteta would be crying for a foul...

Ben: I really understand the rules of football less and less. Why isn’t that a foul by Gabriel or are you now allowed to use a defender’s shoulders to hold on to while you head the ball?

Arsenal look up for it now. Ben White's cross is put behind for a corner after a backheel flick from Bukayo Saka had set him up.

The corner ends up bouncing off Palace's Jefferson Lerma and hits his own crossbar!

    Mark Warburton
Former Brentford boss on BBC Radio 5 Live

Palace will be disappointed with the marking from the set piece. It is a very poor goal to give away, the marking was so poor.

Great ball from Zinchenko behind the defender for Trossard in terms of winning the corner, and a great delivery from Rice for the goal.

An important first goal here for Arsenal.

A good header from Gabriel to give Arsenal the lead. Palace will be very disappointed to concede from a corner, especially with three centre backs in the area.

    Gabriel (11 mins)

    The perfect start by Arsenal.

Centre-back Gabriel rises highest and attacks the corner delivery, nodding it into the bottom right corner to put Arsenal ahead.

  17. 'Arteta doesn't seem to trust his subs as much as the starting XI'published at 12:38 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

    Arsenal 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Theo Walcott
Former Arsenal and Southampton forward on BBC Radio 5 Live

My worry for Arsenal from day one is their lack of squad depth.

We talk about how important substitutions are and it feels like Mikel [Arteta] doesn't trust his bench as much as he does his first eleven, and that is now starting to catch up with them given the amount of games they are playing.

You look at Bukayo Saka and there is a difference in him, the amount of football he has played in his early years, you feel like he needs to take a foot off the gas a bit and give him a bit of a rest.

He is probably playing a bit too much football, but with Arsenal competing at the top they want their best players out there, but they need to not rely on him so much.

It's so far, so good for Tyrick Mitchell up against Bukayo Saka. He blocks his run and concedes a throw-in here.

Arsenal are still controlling possession though, and another move ends with Gabriel Jesus' strike flying miles over.
