Liverpool's Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhmin Kelleher, 25, will continue to deputise for Brazil's number one Alisson Becker, who is out with a hamstring injury.

Jurgen Klopp said: "We see him every day in training, he is an exceptional talent. Maybe we don't mention the name often enough but (goalkeeping coach) John Achterberg said to me from day one when I was in that this will be our homegrown boy who will make it.

"We had discussions in the summer obviously about (moving on), but as long as we don't have a solution we cannot loan players.

"He is homegrown and the first responsibility is to do the best for Liverpool, then we have to see how we can sort it.

"Now obviously for him it is a situation he did not want to have, but obviously because you want opportunities, you want to play, now he will get a few games, definitely. I trust him."

  2. 'My best skill is not feeling at all winning streaks'published at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Liverpool v Fulham (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Marco Silva is wary about Liverpool's home form and so he should be.

The Reds have not lost at home in any competition since their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in February.

Domestically, Liverpool's unbeaten run at Anfield stretches back to October, 2022. They have dropped just six points in the Premier League in that time in a run of 18 wins and three draws.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: "It is our home, it must, must, must be a difficult place to come. I think for every player, if they are not playing at Liverpool playing at Anfield is a dream. But actually it must be a nightmare and that is what we try to do.

"So it is cool, but I think my best skill is not feeling at all winning streaks. I just don't feel it because the next game is so important, so different, so difficult.

"That's why I don't think they help really, maybe for the other team to think it's a difficult place to go, but for us each game stays difficult because of the quality of the opponent."

  3. Liverpool game will be a 'tough task'published at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

    Fulham

More from Fulham boss Marco Silva on Sunday's opponents Liverpool: "They have been perfect at home until now, they have been winning all the games. It's a tough task for us but we go there to play our game and do our best."

On the Cottagers' Scotland midfielder Tom Cairney: "He gave the team what I wanted. He's really important for me, from the bench or not. He's always been ready to help the team."

Defeat against Fulham may have been difficult to take for Gary O'Neil, but it was a welcome win for Fulham boss Marco Silva: "It was an important one, a good one from ourselves. The reaction that we wanted to see was there from the first minute."

Silva on team news before Sunday's match at Liverpool: "Issa Diop is still recovering but making steps forward. Adama Traore, Rodrigo Muniz and Tyrese Francois are still the same."

  5. 'Hopefully VAR can improve'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Arsenal v Wolves (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Wolverhampton Wanderers

We heard from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta earlier on his sympathy for Wolves manager Gary O’Neil, who has also been speaking to the media.

On his feeling about VAR after Wolves' defeat to Fulham, O'Neil said: "How am I feeling about it? I'm fine, I haven’t put too much thought into it since the game. It is where it is.

"I know I said after the game that it finally turned me against VAR. I still think it can be beneficial, I think it can still help. Hopefully it can improve, I stand my by opinion on the decisions that night.

"I've seen the review, it's mixed really, some deemed incorrect, some deemed correct when VAR didn’t intervene. I'm keen to move on from it. The game against Fulham is gone."

On 'Sin-bins': "I've not put a lot of thought into it. It doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. Of course it'll be a punishment and it'll stop you doing things. It'll be too much of a radical change."

  6. 'If we are at 100% we are uncomfortable for any team'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Bournemouth v Aston Villa (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Bournemouth

More from Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola on Sunday's opponents Aston Villa: "They are in a really good moment - they have been for a really long time. They are two points from the top of the league so they are face to face with the best teams in the competition. They score lots of goals, are well coached, very compact, dangerous in transitions and good on set pieces."

On needing to perform "even better" than they did in November's win at home to Newcastle: "Maybe we won't have as many chances, but we need to be more clinical. We have to score when we have the chances because they do not give a lot of chances. We also need to trust ourselves and remember if we are at 100% we are uncomfortable for any team."

  7. 'I think the team is doing well'published at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Bournemouth v Aston Villa (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola on being nominated for manager of the month after his side won two of their three Premier League matches in November: "I don't really know how these things work but I think it's good because it means we had good results this month. I think the team is doing well."

On the consistency of his team selection: "Normally when you don't change the team it's because they are playing well and you are happy with the performances. We have to adjust from game to game so maybe we have to think different things but normally when the results are positive you try to change the least things."

  8. Kelly out for 'some time'published at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Bournemouth v Aston Villa (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Bournemouth

To Bournemouth now. The Cherries have seven members of the first-team squad missing through injury or illness. Manager Andoni Iraola gave an update on one of those, saying defender Lloyd Kelly would be out for "some time" with a hamstring strain.

But the Bournemouth boss said he otherwise had the "same team" available to him as he did for last weekend's win over Sheffield United.

A final word from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who says he shares the frustration expressed by opposite manager Gary O'Neil on VAR after a number of decisions went against his Wolves side: "I have sympathy with all my colleagues. I know how beautiful this job can be but also how challenging. We have a lot of exposure and moments in front of the camera are not easy, we have seen that in many situations, both this season and last season.

"We are here to make the game better but also make our clubs better and we need to win to do it."

On the potential trial of sin-bins: "These things have to be tried and then we will see what we get from there."

More from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on whether his team can develop further after progressing to the knockout stages of the Champions League: "There are more levels to come and I hope so. We have to continue doing what we do in games and earn the right to win. We can be better still and improve our consistency."

On whether he plans to rest players: "We are playing big games every three days and the squad is ready. They are disappointed when they are made to rest, but we have to manage minutes in every game."

Arsenal v Wolves (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

We have another big game against Wolves. They are a very difficult team to play against. Our focus is on understanding what we need to do to win the game."

On the potential to go four points clear with both Liverpool and Manchester City playing on Sunday: "We can only control what we can do. Ifs in this league are not positive to have in mind. We are really hungry to play in front of our crowd tomorrow and win the game."

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on introducing sin-bins in football: "Yeah, bin it mate, bin the whole idea. I don't understand why they keep interjecting themselves into the game.

"There's not much wrong with the game. I don't think there's a need for it. You see dissent these days because you have people to [give] dissent to. I just don't think we need to mess with the game too much."

"He's such a positive guy, he has a positive outlook. He knows he's been through a tough time and now he has to go through a shorter tough time. He felt it himself out there that he hasn't lost anything as a footballer."

We have to manage three games in six days to get the best results from all the games. We have more than 11 players, we have good options there. Sofyan Amrabat showed he was playing a good game. We have to manage the load of the players and it's about freshness as well."

On what impresses him about Mainoo: "His scanning, it looks like he always has time because he is scanning, he is running free, he is scanning to see the options and make the right decisions. [He] can delay, can speed up, he makes the right decisions."
