  1. 'We have to do some things better'published at 13:45 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Newcastle v Man Utd (Sat, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manager Erik ten Hag on Manchester United's 3-3 draw at Galatasaray in the Champions League: "On Wednesday we played very good, also in Copenhagen. Even in Bayern Munich we played very good, but we have to do some things better - eliminate individual errors, transition. But we can sort this out and I would be more concerned if we didn't play well."

  2. We have to rise to the occasion - Ten Hagpublished at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Newcastle v Man Utd (Sat, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on Saturday's opponents Newcastle: "I really respect them. It's a difficult team to play but it's a good challenge and I like to play against them.

"We have to rise to the occasion and be at our best against them because the way they play is very organised."

  3. Onana is Premier League's second-best keeper - Ten Hagpublished at 13:38 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Newcastle v Man Utd (Sat, 20:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says under-fire goalkeeper Andre Onana is the Premier League’s second-best goalkeeper "according to the stats", despite his mistakes that have left the club’s Champions League qualification hopes hanging by a thread.

Onana was at fault for two Galatasaray goals in Wednesday’s 3-3 draw in Istanbul as United failed to win despite twice leading by two goals.

The Cameroon international also made errors in the 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich at the start of the group phase, but Ten Hag dismissed concerns about his £47.2m summer signing from Inter Milan.

“If you analyse it, well then you see he is the second-best goalkeeper in the Premier League based on stats,” said Ten Hag. “His expected goals prevented is the second-best in the Premier League.

“He's doing well. He knows that in the Champions League he has made some mistakes but, overall, in the first five months he has done well.”

  4. James 'sorry' about Newcastle dismissalpublished at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Chelsea v Brighton (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on VAR: "It's so difficult. It's not the technology, it's how you see things and your assessment of the action. That is the most difficult thing to put in the same line. we are using VAR to discuss, to have a subject and to debate. Is it helping football. I don't know?"

On Reece James apologising for his red card against Newcastle: "I think it's part of the process. Too many time he's been injured, I think he was tired in the moment he got the second yellow card. He's working really hard. He feels sorry about the situation.

"It was tough for him and the team, but it's good when the player criticises and feels responsible. It's a thing that can happen in football and it's good when you realise."

  5. Brighton are 'a very good team'published at 13:32 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Chelsea v Brighton (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on Brighton: "They're doing a fantastic job. They are a very good team, with a very good coaching staff. I know Roberto [de Zerbi] very well and I think he's doing a fantastic job."

On where he wants to see Chelsea at the end of December: "I want to see us on Sunday with three more points on the table. Then to prepare the game against Manchester United. Step by step I think is the most important [thing], game by game."

  6. 'It's unfair to compare players from one season to another'published at 13:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Chelsea v Brighton (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on Moises Caicedo settling in at the club: "I think it's a process. The temptation is to analyse and compare a player from one season to another when it's not fair. It's a different environment, different moment, how the situation is now.

"He arrived when we were already playing games in the Premier League, with no pre-season. It's an emotional situation that happened with him. Then he got injured with his national team and has had no time to rest or recover.

"Now we have a couple of months for players to rest and play and to be focussed on Chelsea. It's unfair to compare players from one season to another."

  7. 'We were tough in our analysis, but it's not to blame them'published at 13:27 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Chelsea v Brighton (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on how he transmits his anger to his players: "They know very well how my mood was. I am not here acting. If I'm feeling happy, I'm happy. If I'm not happy, I'm not happy - it's the same with the players.

"I think we let down the club because it was our responsibility as a team. Everyone works together. It's always about putting the context in the situation and it's important the players see the coaches in a natural way.

"Of course we were tough in our analysis - it's about telling the truth, to show the things we didn't do, but it's not to blame them. We're a young team - sometimes we have to be tougher, sometimes we have to learn and sometimes we need to be nice and choose how we will express ourselves. We know we need to perform and to perform well to recover the points."

  8. We are our own worst enemies - Pochettinopublished at 13:24 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Chelsea v Brighton (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on whether beating Brighton in the League Cup will help their chances: "It's not [about] the opponent - you can see that with Man City, Tottenham and Newcastle. You could have said maybe the most likely team we could get points against would be Newcastle because they were playing three days after playing PSG in the Champions League.

"Then we beat Tottenham, drew against Man City and lost against Newcastle. We are our own worst enemies.

"In our place, we will for sure compete in a good way and pay attention. But at the moment in this process we have to pay more attention to ourselves than the opponent."

  9. 'For now it's not important to see the end of the season'published at 13:19 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Chelsea v Brighton (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on their chances of a top-four finish: "This is mathematical. I think we need to believe it's realistic, it's going to be tough to achieve. For now it's not important to see the end of the season, it's to see the process and improve every day. That is the most difficult process, to be focussed on today and not tomorrow. That's one aspect we've been working on this week, to try to improve ourselves and try to provide the team with what they need.

"That is a process we need to focus on. We need to realise we can't think in the end of the season and be more present on how we can improve our condition and possibility to be better every day."

On whether the owners and himself are on the same page regarding the team's development: "Yes, of course, that's the reality that it's a process. We are realistic with the situation and I think the first one that is supporting this is the owner."

  10. 'These types of situations help us to improve'published at 13:12 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Chelsea v Brighton (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Now here's Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on team news: "There's not too much news. Some players can be available. [Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia] are close but we need tomorrow to make the decision. Maybe Lavia is the more difficult one but we need to assess Nkunku."

On coming back from their defeat by Newcastle last weekend: "We need to clarify things, realise what happened. I think it was a tough week for everyone. I am very happy because [the players] reacted very well. I was tougher with them inside [the changing room] and outside.

"We have to blame ourselves also. Maybe our approach was wrong and we take the responsibility. We took the week to realise things that we need to improve, to be more consistent, more mature. I am very very happy so far. It was really, really tough in training and meetings but some times, these types of situations help us to improve."

  11. 'I'm really pleased with what Walker is doing'published at 13:07 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Man City v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Kyle Walker and his role as captain, with the club and as a stand-in for Harry Kane with England: "Kyle is the same [as when he played for Tottenham]. But yes, he has more responsibility now. I am really pleased about what he is doing.

"I am pretty sure he will be happy too [about his leadership role with England]. He was born in this country and represents his country, it is so nice. I think Harry Kane is the captain, but [Walker] has a lot of experience now and that is why he can show it for the rest of the people."

  12. 'I saw clips of his team play and said wow'published at 13:04 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Man City v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

More from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Ange Postecoglou and his first meeting with him in Japan, when the Australian was Yokohama manager during a pre-season tour by City: "I saw clips of his team play and I said 'wow', there were things in there I really liked. I told my players we are going to face a good team.

"We won because we had better players, but I realised this was the first time I met him [but I would see him again]. And since then I have followed him and in a short time he is here."

  13. Spurs' style is 'similar to when they were winning'published at 13:01 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Man City v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Pep Guardiola on Tottenham's recent dip in form, which has followed injuries to key players such as James Maddison and Michael van de Ven, and a suspension for Christian Romero: "From the way they play in the games they lost I would say no [they haven't adapted the way they play to a less attacking style]. It has been similar to when they were winning. But when Maddison is not playing, or Romero, or his partner, it is different. Our job depends on the players, but if you say they lost something or adapted something, I would say no."

On whether he expects an attacking game: "I encourage the fans to come to the stadium because they will have fun."

  14. 'Every single game is difficult'published at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Man City v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on the increasing competition in the Premier League: "It is a more difficult competition to win in every season. I have said that many times before. Every season is getting better, with more teams involved [in the title race], so every single game is difficult.

"Spurs is a fantastic team. Yes, they have important absences, but I saw the first 20 minutes against Aston Villa. They created a lot of chances, so they are really good for football."

  15. How the league table standspublished at 12:51 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Man City v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

Tottenham were the last team to lose their unbeaten record this season but Ange Postecoglou's men have since suffered three straight defeats and lost several players to injury.

Last Sunday's 2-1 home defeat by Aston Villa allowed Villa to climb above Spurs into fourth, while Manchester City's 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool last Saturday let Arsenal to edge above them at the top of the table.

We're set to hear from Spurs boss Postecoglou shortly.

  16. Postecoglou makes football a better place - Guardiolapublished at 12:45 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Man City v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on the development of Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou since his appointment in the summer: "He is already there, in a short time. Even in the games they didn't win lately. I am impressed at many things they do - the chances they create, aggression in all departments. He came here with nothing and within a few months already you can recognise Spurs as his team.

"Every team that plays with desire and determination comes from the manager. He has done this in the past in Japan and in Glasgow with Celtic.

"He makes football a better place - a person like Ange. I enjoy watching them play and the approach they have. The impact he has made has been quick and really good."

  20. Uncomfortable goalkeeping questions for Ten Hagpublished at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

Newcastle v Man Utd (Sat, 20:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is due to speak to the media shortly, and there may be some tricky questions about Andre Onana's form.

Ten Hag pushed through the deal to sign Onana from Inter Milan for £47.2m, knowing the Cameroon international from their time together at Ajax.

Some felt it was a needless decision to get rid of David de Gea.

Not for the first time Onana's performances are under scrutiny given the mistakes that ended up costing United a crucial victory against Galatasaray on Wednesday, which has left their Champions League qualification hopes in the balance.
