    On Harrison shooting just wide...

That started with a ball in behind to Nathan Patterson, he brought it down with a wonderful technique.

Jack Harrison pulling it on to his left foot and it is a wonderful effort, he deserves more there.

Not the best start to the second half for Vale.

  8. 'Newcastle have been regimental'published at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2023

    HT: Chelsea 0-1 Newcastle

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea showing glimpses of what they can do but it has not quite clicked for them, Newcastle have been very regimental and structured.

Callum Wilson has buried their only chance.

You do not give Wilson chances like that, it is terrible defending and Mauricio Pochetino must be thinking 'what do I have to do?'.

If you take that chance out it has been a pretty even game.

  9. Postpublished at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2023

    Everton 0-1 Fulham

A clash of heads between Nathan Patterson and Willian - and the referee has decided Patterson was to blame and books him.

The second time today that Newcastle defender Emil Krafth has gone down injured.

  17. INJURY TIMEpublished at 20:45 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2023

    Chelsea 0-1 Newcastle

Not the best shot from Nicolas Jackson but it takes a deflection on the way through so Chelsea win a corner. Three minutes added on.

  18. Postpublished at 20:45 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2023

    Chelsea 0-1 Newcastle

Panicky defending by Newcastle but it works to block Conor Gallagher's shot. Can the Magpies see it through to the break?

    Chelsea 0-1 Newcastle

    Glenn Murray

A good passage of play by Newcastle, when they get in Chelsea's half they look dangerous.

Unfortunately nobody in black and white was crushing in at that front post!

Since both teams won their respective leagues in 2017, Newcastle have been promoted, survived the Bruce era & qualified for the Champions League. Yes Chelsea won the UCL in 2021, but they have long been a cup team & don't look like challenging for the title again soon. Newcastle will win the league before Chelsea do again.
