It's a front-post run, it's bread and butter and the ball in is sensational. I don't know if Sokler thinks it's going in anyway and decides to leave it. Any sort of contact and it ends up in the back of the net.

A huge scare for Rangers as Nicky Devlin pings in a juicy cross and Ester Sokler fails to make any kind of contact at the near post. It's almost like he deliberately lets it go. Baffling.

The James Tavernier free-kick is poor but Rangers quickly recycle the ball and Borna Barisic is marauding into the box from the left. His cut-back is for Cyriel Dessers but the striker is rapidly swarmed with defenders in red.

Jamie McGrath goes down with a yelp but that won't help the Aberdeen man avoid a booking after hacking at the shins of Borna Barisic.

It's difficult. I've done this many a time to a centre-back or a full-back. Goldson's clearing, he's kicked the ball. Sokler has put his foot to block, not to foul him.

Ester Sokler, already on a booking, gives referee Don Robertson an anxious look as he leaves Connor Goldson in a heap.

The Rangers defender is hurt as he clears, his follow through catching the big striker.

With a lack of quality (from both sides) so far, you start to look to the respective benches.

Kemar Roofe loves a second half goal, often coming on as an impact sub, as he did in Seville through the week. Rabbi Matondo has plenty of pace, while Scott Wright knows what it's like to score in a final, having done so in the Scottish Cup against Hearts.

The Dons, too, have players who change a game. Duk is the obvious one, while Dante Polvara also has a couple of big goals to his name from midfield this season.

The managers have options.

If Morecambe were playing in this, they'd be 3-0 up*.

The conditions aren't helping. Aberdeen have been so slack in possession. Rangers have been slightly better but that's not a massive compliment.

Aberdeen's front two haven't been involved. That's a lot to do with the service. But when they have the opportunity to pick a pass, they'll go long or try something difficult.

*Another Derek Adams reference. The last here of the afternoon.

Derek Adams was going easy on the Scottish game yesterday! It's been awful. We had high expectations and it hasn't come close to living up to them.

It's been rubbish. A joyless grind.

A lot of blood and thunder, but nothing much in the way of goalmouth thrills.

Rangers with the lion's share of possession and with the two best chances, a scuffed shot from Abdallah Sima and a mistimed header from Ross McCausland.

Stefan Gartenmann looks a threat in the air for Aberdeen.

The dreadful weather is a factor, but the game is crying out for cooler heads.

Ross McCausland is free at the back stick again but can't time his jump to direct the ball on target. The Rangers winger should be doing better there.

Sima's left elbow catches Devlin in the side of the cheek. I don't think he's meant it, he's using his arms for leverage, but he has caught Devlin and it's the right decision in the end.
