Jefferson Lerma gives Seamus Coleman a chase on the left but the full-back puts it out of play, taking no chances.

Amadou Onana then wins a free-kick in the corner when he stops Eberechi Eze escaping. Good defending.

Jean-Philippe Mateta is almost played in by Eberechi Eze but João Virgínia gathers it in.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is then caught offside up the other end.

Everton are looking to play that through ball for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. On a few occasions already Marc Guehi has read it and intercepted calmly.

You look at the last 18 months to two years Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled to stay fit and play regularly. The injuries and the setbacks he has had time and time again must have been very tough for him.

If he can get a longer period in the team and stay fit, he can get back to the form that saw him become their main striker.

It pops up nicely for Jeffrey Schlupp after Palace make headway on the left and he hits it on the half-volley.

It bounces up awkwardly for João Virgínia in the Everton goal but he manages to keep hold of it.

Arnaut Danjuma tries to slide it through to Jack Harrison but the pass is way overcooked.

Will be interesting to see how Everton approach this. Surely they will go hard from the start given they have a strong side out.

The key for Everton this season is that they have Sean Dyche at the helm.

He has experience of keeping teams in the Premier League, knowing when your backs are against the wall he has the knowledge of how to make his team fight and rally together and get results.

They have some real individual quality in the squad, and the important thing is keeping the vast majority of them fit.

Everton have already won away against Crystal Palace this season, beating them 3-2 in the Premier League.

The last time they won two away games against an opponent in the same season was at West Ham in 2007-08.

Crystal Palace have progressed to the next round in just two of their six FA Cup ties against Everton.

Althoughc, Palace did win their most recent encounter in March 2022 by 4-0.

Roy Hodgson's side have lost three of their last four FA Cup third round matches, with the exception coming in 2021-22 when they reached the semi-final of the competition.

Everton have lost seven of their last nine FA Cup games against fellow Premier League sides (W2), losing all four away games in this run.

Sean Dyche says Everton are "unlikely to be busy" in the transfer window.

In September, Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri agreed to sell his 94% stake to American investment fund 777 Partners, but the deal is yet to go through.

"To do any deal the club has to be in the situation to do so. We managed to rebalance the squad the best we could in the summer, and the situation now is similar," said Dyche.

"At this moment in time, it is unlikely to be busy. The deal hasn't gone through yet [with the new owners] They've been up front with us and I've had a casual chat with them.

"It's reality. They're trying to be truthful. Until it's a done deal, we can promise all sorts - but there's no point in doing that. I like facts."
