    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

It's all United at the moment.

Diogo Dalot crosses with the outside of his foot from the left but Alejandro Garnacho can't control properly at the back post and Wigan clear.

United are back in possession and building again, though.

    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at DW Stadium

We had fireworks as the teams came out and nearly fireworks inside the opening five minutes, only for Andre Onana to make an excellent save from Thelo Aasgaard's shot when the home man only had the keeper to beat.

Some teams have already lost their players to the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts next week, but Onana has already shown why United wanted to keep him for this match.

    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

Wigan are going to try and play when they can. They confidently pass the ball around in triangles at the back but they can't get out.

We've seen sides pay the price for playing out from the back this weekend. Will Wigan be another?

Andre Onana will be a big part of what happens at Manchester United. They want to start the new year on a high and he'll be key to that.

    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

United's turn to attack now as a cross from the left is headed clear by Steven Sessegnon at the back post.

The home fans are making plenty of noise at the moment.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January

    Wigan 0-0 Man Utd

    Almost for the hosts!

A great break down the right from Wigan as Sean Clare and Martial Godo combine.

The latter carries the ball forward and sends an early cross into the back post where Thelo Aasgaard sends a left-footed effort into Andre Onana.

Good save, but should he score?

Man City have never scored at Tottenham's current ground, let alone won, Phil.

    Don't get too despondent.

I must be honest, as A Spurs fan I think this is now another trophy less season. City seem to be getting their act together after a dodgy spell.

There's lots of early pointing and shouting from Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot.

Marcus Rashford is caught in possession but the ball trickles out for a throw-in to the Reds.

So it's an away match in round four for the winner of this one as the draw has either Wigan or Manchester United up against either Newport County, 18th in League Two, or non-league Eastleigh - 11th in the National League and the second lowest ranked side left in.

Those two will have a replay next week after it ended 1-1 at the weekend in south Wales.

Not long until we get going in this one. The pitch is looking in good nick and we're filling up nicely, with a decent atmosphere already.

Twelve years on, a picture hangs from a wall inside the DW Stadium of Shaun Maloney's winner for Wigan against Manchester United in 2012.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side were eight points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City with six games left when they visited on 11 April 2012.

By the end of the night their lead was down to five after an outstanding curling finish from the edge of the box by Wigan's number 10.

The Red Devils lost one and drew one of their remaining five matches, allowing rivals City to dramatically snatch the title on goal difference.

Now manager of Wigan, Maloney hopes his League One players can cause an almighty upset against the Red Devils tonight in the FA Cup.

"It was one of those moments," Maloney tells BBC Sport about his winner against United.

"You try and create a moment. It was a really good feeling for our club."

  18. 'It's like a cup final'published at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January

Wigan v Man Utd (20:15 GMT)

Wigan boss Shaun Maloney, speaking to ITV: "They have to have a belief that they can win the game. I have to understand the levels between us. If Manchester United turn up then it'll be tough. If we work harder than United then we have a chance."

"When you play against Manchester United, it's like a cup final."

  19. 'Hojlund is motivated to score'published at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January

Wigan v Man Utd (20:15 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, speaking to ITV: "Of course it was a disadvantage that Hojlund became ill after scoring against Villa. He has been on a good run in the Champions League. This is his debut in the FA Cup and he is motivated to score a goal.

"Everyone will be sharp, they have very high ambition. We are looking forward to the competition."

  20. An FA Cup full housepublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January

Wigan v Man Utd (20:15 GMT)

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at DW Stadium

For the first time in more than a decade, Wigan Athletic will tonight be playing in front of a full house at the DW Stadium.

Tonight's attendance will shatter the previous best this season of 13,601 that watched the 1-0 loss to Derby County on Boxing Day and will be the first time a crowd of more than 20,000 has been present since 20,136 saw the 3-0 defeat by Sunderland on 26 February, 2022.

If there are more than 23,001 at DW Stadium tonight it will beat the mark set against Aston Villa on 19 May, 2013 - the Latics' last match in the Premier League.

Manchester United were the opponents for the record football attendance at DW Stadium with 25,133 there on 11 May, 2008 in the final game of the season as United, under Sir Alex Ferguson, got a 2-0 win to hold off Chelsea and become Premier League champions.

Wigan tonight will be hoping to record the biggest shock in the FA Cup since they defeated Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, when, as a League One side, the Latics won 1-0 in their fifth-round tie on a Monday night at DW Stadium in February 2018.
